Pulitzer Prize Reporter Exposes Trump’s Lack of Wealth, Mob Ties, Failure to Support Charity, and Much More

See what you think...

Most progressives and liberals have long suspected Donald Trump is a fraud. Thanks to an investigative reporter who has been dogging the Trumpster for over a quarter of a century, there is documentation of his numerous fraudulent acts and behaviors. In addition, there are a number of questions that the media should be asking that would doubtless prove that Donald Trump without a question is a total fraud.

David Cay Johnston is an author, lecturer, and investigative reporter who has been awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Beat Reporting who has presided over the board of the non-profit organization Investigative Reporters and Editors, Inc. His areas of expertise include tax law, accounting, economics, business and finance. He is also an outspoken Progressive whose thoughts and ideas echo those of Bernie Sanders. Since 1988, Johnston has been watching Trump closely. Recently, he came up with a list of questions that would reveal much about the GOP’s “Golden Boy” – assuming Trump would provide frank and forthcoming answers, as he claims to do.

For example, how many of our readers knew that Trump was successfully sued by the Attorney General of New York for running an “illegal educational institution”? Students at “Trump University” paid a whopping $35,000 for “Elite” mentorships – but never even saw their mentor. And here’s a juicy little fact that fans of The Godfather and The Sopranos should appreciate: the contracting firm that constructed Trump Tower was owned by a pair of gentlemen who went by the monikers of “Fat Tony” Salerno and “Big Paul” Castellano.

When it comes to charity, Trump doesn’t even donate to his own foundation. Instead, he donates other people’s money – specifically, those who do business with him.

Can you say, “kickbacks”?

It only gets better: Trump was found guilty in federal court of cheating immigrant workers hired to demolish a multi-story building. He paid them less than $5 per hour under the table. He didn’t even furnish them with hard hats. Oh, and all that talk from Trump about how he’s a “self-made billionaire”? It turns out that he had a bit of help from the taxpayers of New York. The mayor of NYC at the time, Abe Beame, happened to be good buddies with Donny-boy’s Daddy, Fred Trump. That little connection got Donald a tax abatement on a mid-town Manhattan property (right next door to Grand Central Station) in 1976. That was the old Commodore Hotel, which today is the Grand Hyatt New York. As of 2016, that little deal that his daddy made for him will have cost taxpayers $400 million.

So much for being a “self-made” billionaire.

Incidentally, Donald – how do you explain the fact that you paid zero income tax in 1978 and 1979, when you were busy remodeling that fancy Manhattan hotel? In fact, how do you explain not being able to pay your bills back in 1990, despite being a billionaire? And maybe you’d like to clarify to voters how you managed to run not one, but four companies into the ground? You want to run the country like you run business?

Heavens help us if that scenario ever came to pass.

At age 66, David Cay Johnston has not lost his edge when it comes to asking the hard questions. You can read all 21 of them, along with more details, right here. However, don’t expect the mainstream corporate media to be putting them to the Trumpster anytime soon.

Chances are, he’d just side-step them or refuse to answer anyway.

Watch Thom Hartmann address the issue of Trump and the mob, and The Young Turks address how Trump’s money was actually made by his father and Trump has actually invested it poorly.

I don't want to sound unappreciative, but the fact that someone always has something to say and never listens, is person who is hiding something....at least that's what I learned from doing job interviews for years. It's good to have the information.

I have been interested to watch people on other venues who started out with the "anyone who is left of center" meme quickly slide into definite camps.
I continue to be interested, for the most part, in SCOTUS nominations.
I do think that ultimately those others will be in my camp. It will be interesting to observe.

It is, honestly, info gathered that has been floating around that needed some organizing.
I don't suppose people who lack free time would see it.

There are so many people on this site, that an individual like Trump, or Sarah Palin who speak a few tricky words and phrases....those individuals knees melt and their brains and ears shutdown. You are right, I think having that information is fine, more for you or me, than those individuals.

I had a discussion with someone about Trump's fence along our border and they referenced Israels success with a fence. I thought, what the heck, I'll look into that with no more express purpose than comparing the two projects.

The first item I learned was the size of the fence for Israel and what would take to do the same to the US/Mexico border. Israel's fence is going to be about 350 miles long. Note: I said going to be, because Trump assumed the fence was complete. Israel started the fence in 2000, it is 68% complete, yea that's 15 years and it still isn't complete. Our fence will be 1993 miles long. I assuming at best it would take 50 years to complete.

Also, I compared the population of both areas. There are approximately 4.4 million Palestinians and 165 million people in Mexico and Central America.

Also, Trump said that he would redeploy IRS and FBI agents (since we won't need them anymore, because we're going to simplify the tax code) to have mobile police along the border. Assuming that a fully burdened squad car with 2 agents and 3 shifts a day that would each cover 10 miles of border costs about $200,000 or $600,000 /day (my numbers are actually from the FBI, since they did a study of the cost of surveillance), An annual cost of 600000 times 199 is $119,400,000.

Oh, Trump doesn't think we need a Dept. of Education, Energy or the SSA anymore either, because "like magic" everyone will just do as he says. Even though he complains about Executive Orders, he will probably produce more in the first 90 days than all presidents combined.

Anyhow, good talking to ya'.

I will condone that to some extent, because I am prone for doing the same thing. Confirmation bias is my strong suit, but hopefully not when it counts.

Our van is at a point in it's life that many of the components are starting to fail. We've replaced the AC compressor and the alternator, just this summer. A week after the new alternator was installed my wife texted me....that our nephew was going to help her get home after dropping off the to our mechanic. I called her when I had a chance and she explained the symptoms..and I said, "..Oh, it's the alternator". She disagreed, since it is was just replaced. The failure mode was identical and yet she just couldn't believe that it had failed again. She called back in a few hours and she said that it was the alternator. She asked "why were you so sure?"..."Honey, the symptoms were the same, just because a part is new: doesn't mean it's any good".

How many people don't believe lightening will strike twice? If it does strike twice, it isn't luck, there's another reason.

He makes up for that with his connections to certain Sicilians, I think.
