Great article and insight into the demise of the goopers. Now the radical teabag movement runs the party and embraces a neo n**i conservatism.

The article is bullcrap...just more propaganda. I really don't care about "parties" or "left or right"..I just care about MY Country and it's future for my children and grandchildren. You should look a little deeper into some of the good things other people or parties have to offer..think once in awhile other than just being a Democrat..it's just a party with it's faults as well as the rest of the "parties". Our job as Americans is to meet in the middle and have a better Country instead of a divided one.

Another left wing web site for the lefties. Lefties control the Senate and the Presidency and yet it's always someone elses fault. Time for the left to grow some.

One of the points in the article is that the party is driven to a place, the radical right, that is almost anathema to any kind of compromise or even governing and that is not BS. So meeting in the middle seems to be a nice but somewhat vain hope. It blithely talks about a debt default being inconsequential, one member says it will make the US debt rating better, these are not even close to being sane pronouncements and actions. And any moderately adult parties like Boehner are essentially powerless to get the crazies to act like adults. So nice sentiments at the end but they seem to be objectively misplaced.

Sorry, but I still don't give a crap about any party. I would say that governing a Country is not a game of "Follow the Leader". I can't change your views and really dont want to and if you dont like mine that fine too...It is still America.

I am tired of democrats. They don't know how to do anything constructive . Look at the fires in Cal. Democratic liberal environmentalist are letting those beautiful trees burn up. Clinton has stopped logging to save trees that could have supplied jobs for thousands wether it was processing the wood and replanting. He made monuments of forests that now grow marihuana that Mexican cartels grow to make out citizens zombies. Now this looser in the WH is making our country broke laughable and dysfunctional. Yes democracy's need to go

you are tired of Democrats , great , as far as not doing anything constructive it is the conservative republicans that have blocked any meaningful legislation , the forest fires are a direct result of the drought taking place out west (the president has no control over that) ,I don't want to surprise you but he won e******n twice not just once but twice , you know two times and when the republicans wish to engage in meaningful debate and actually care and participate in the governance of this country , then we will be on the road again

"Yes democracy's need to go". Freudian slip?

Nobody is "letting those beautiful trees burn up" in the fire near Yosemite. Where are you getting your news? The firefighters are doing a great job of containing a massive fire.

The dingbat Repubs v**e to repeal Obamacare 40 time, but have done nothing in the area of the economy and jobs. They have one more week to go on their % WEEK VACATION and can't be bothered to return to DC while we are debating military action. Might interfere with Boehner getting his tan.

Same old same old from people like you. You talk about meaningful debate. Your kidding right? It is clear this administration does not want any debate on anything. He goes around congress with executive orders. The fraud-in-chief or I should say Valerie Jarrett who makes all his decisions(does anyone remember her name on any b****t?) So before people like you quote from the mad hatter network try just try telling the T***H. That would be refreshing.

Great article, FACTs and history, and scary-where do we go from here? If "pure" republicans refuse to compromise and threaten to ruin our credit rating, the market goes to hell, things get even worse. Some people will read it this article though and just say "its baloney and Obama is a poo-poo head". You can get a feeling for the difficulty of reasoning with congress by trying to reason with some of folks on this website.
