I don't know but Obama did do his speech today pretty late after talking on the telephone to someone. If this has a chance of being true then maybe that has something to do with Obama actually backing away from his promised attack and saying that it could be done any time from now on. I don't think he is backing away because he knows he can't get permission from the Congress to attack. I think there is a good chance that he has finally found out something that is allowing him to back off. He screwed up a year ago when he drew that red line in the sand and now finds that he can't back it up either because of no help from others or just maybe he found out that the Assad government wasn't responsible for that attack.

It all depends on Valerie Jarrette. She makes the decisions in this White House. Of course, Obama will have to play a couple more games of golf while Valerie is mulling over the decision. When Valerie has made her decision, she will call Obama back to the White House, you know...like they did over the Bin Laden raid.

Obama is like a little girl pulling the petals off of a daisy. Should I? Should I not? Should I? Should I not?

Hell, he can only get France to side with him! At least Bush had a whole coalition of nations behind him when he went to war. Now, the liberals will jump on me saying "but, Bush lied." Jada, Jada, Jada...the old broken record.

I believe his speech of today was to set himself up in case the
Congress backs out on him and he has to choose between an attack without their approval or backing out and blaming them if it turns out that terrorists weren't the ones who released the gas. He is covering his ass no matter what. He says he can attack them tomorrow, next week, or next month. He believes he has the authority to attack without Congress but now he has it so he can blame them. He took about 30 more minutes for his speech than had been indicated.

He indicated in that speech that Boehner, McConnell, Pelosi and Reid agreed with him but he doesn't really want the rest of Congress to debate the problem because he knows that the House, at least will not v**e with their RINO leader and the minority floor leader. Wow, will that make some media fodder to blame Republicans for.

Just a coincidence the " rebels " received US made gas masks two days before the attack ? A civil war rages on for two years and all of a sudden Assahd uses chemical weapons when the US is sticking their noses in ? I think not .

But now the US has dug a hole in one lie, and has to stick by it.

Could you provide a link that supports your statement that the rebels got gas masks two days before the attack.

My initial response was the same as yours about the terrible timing of this gas attack; it didn't make sense. Terrorists in the rebel camp doing it to get the West to take action against Assad made perfect sense. But upon further conjecture, putting Obama in a no win situation is a plus. Also, Iran and Russia have wanted an excuse to openly get involved in that area, especially deal a blow to Israel: a US attack might be that open door.

Obama was so insistent that his "red line ultimatum" should be respected that he ordered 5 destroyers and a MEF carrier offshore of Syria. He tried to ram the accusation home that Assad had committed the gas attack when there was no proof wh**ever. The stooge, Kerry, would swear for wh**ever Obama thought about Syria.
So, the U.S. Navy sits offshore to bombard what? The UN investigation isn't final, and when it is, the UN will verify only whether poison gas was used or not. It has no proof who used it, it won't accuse Assad because Obama's getting pressure from Saudi Arabia and the Muslim Brotherhood to depose Assad any way he can. S.A and MB are interested in grabbing Syria and "purifying" it under sharia law and to install a Sunni Muslim leader.
Now, comes information that Bandar visited Putin about 3 weeks ago, tried to influence Putin into deserting Assad by offering Putin "protection" from Chechen terrorists who "might attack" the Winter Olympics in Sochi Russia, Feb.2014. Bandar indicated that he controls the Chechens. Putin refused same indicating that he's known for over 10 years that Saudi Arabia had a hand in Chechen attacks and that he would handle that. Bandar further offered Putin a deal at the OPEC table, to which Putin also refused. Bandar's trip to the Kremlin went for naught. Silence and frustration in S.A.!
Then, P.M. Cameron brought his cooperation with Obama to the UK Parliament for a v**e. That was v**ed down, Cameron was defeated. The Brits wanted definite proof, it wasn't available.
In the meantime, the U.S. Congress must have grown some intestinal fortitude and Obama must have been put on notice by other high Democrats that they didn't want to be part of bringing this nation to war. If Obama ordered it, that would be an impeachable crime. Suddenly, Obama is looking haggard. Perhaps he's visualized what life would be without those benefits he's been working overtime.
He looks like a whipped child, it dawns on him that major democratic world powers are ridiculing him, that Putin put him(Obama) in short pants, and Democrats fear that he'll leave a mark on that Party it won't recover from.
(My opinion, based upon news from here and offshore.)
If any l*****ts on this forum care to offer their opinions or convert this to name-calling, be advised to put it before the general forum, I'm sincerely not interested.

Surely you can handle anything they put out other than the name calling and we all know which ones will do that. You write a good post that is very possibly too true to be handled any other way than a leaner attack on the messenger and they are admitting defeat when they use that method of putting you away.

Too much probable t***h in what you say other than the part about high ranking Democrats wanting to back off. Obama says that Reid and Pelosi are willing to attack. I have heard a number of others from that group say essentially the same thing today so I have to wonder just what they are doing other than trying to stand up to the Republicans, other than the RINOs who are willing to go along with him. Those would be McCain, Graham, McConnell and Boehner. They will have a time convincing the rest of the House to go along with them, though.

Did you read my link? It says that it was an accident from terrorist territory and has gone on from there. I see so little to be gained for Assad to take part in that crap, but also see much to be gained by the terrorists if they can get Obama involved. It is good reason for Obama to back off for at least as long as it takes for the Congress to do something. He did say next month, didn't he?

Sorry, I jumped in to rumitoid before your link got posted. My link said that it was MintPress where they got the story so we both posted the same link. Thanks for trying, so many people here just don't read links even when they are directed at them.
