LEARN TO LISTEN

Luke 5:4-6

When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.

"Because You say so," when the Lord speaks to you, it is with a quiet voice, a nudge, a simple urge - listen to it, and follow it, or you will regret it. Have you ever felt maybe I shouldn't go, but you went anyway and then had an accident, or something else befell you that was not pleasant? That's the Holy Spirit trying to warn you. And, if you shut Him off too many times - His warnings stop.

Personal experience - I thought I had lost my billfold. I was making a mad dash for the last place where I had it out, praying as I went. All of a sudden I knew it was not there, but that somehow I had overlooked it, so I began thanking the Lord. I just knew it was in the car, but I didn't know where in the car, or when I would find it. I came home, got a flashlight and thought I had looked the car over thoroughly, but still did not find it, so I called and cancelled the cards. I went back out to the car for one more look. This time I ran my hand between the console and the passenger seat - lo and behold - it dropped out. So I had to wait 7-10 days for new cards. I said I knew it was there, I didn't know that I would find it so quickly.

Cancelling my credit cards turned out to be to my advantage - it stopped an automatic deduction I had wanted to have stopped. All's well that ends well, thank You, Lord.

b LEARN TO LISTEN br br br Luke 5:4-6 /b br b... (show quote)

Seriously, I have felt the "nudge" and most often it is to shut up. A number of posters might take that as proof of God. Maybe thirty times in the last decade I have begun to say something and it is like a physical hand pulling my lips shut. I am getting a ride from a friend and the music is blasting on the radio. Three miles of this nonsense. I am about to ask him to lower or turn off the radio when i am made to hold my tongue. Two beats later the driver either apologizes and then lowers the music, or lowers the music then apologizes. This has happened a number of times.

Whether you call that 'nudge' intuition or the Spirit trying to protect you, the important thing is to listen.
