There is a street in Belfast, Northern Ireland that is unique: political and religious differences, enough to kill or die for, are based on an odd or even mailing address. Delivering the mail is not delivering truth to either side, no matter if it is a newsletter from the Vatican or a letter from the Anglican Church. The utterly and plain ridiculous nature of faith so clearly exposed should give pause. What if I had to move to an even address? Would I have to kill Catholics?
East or West Bank? Northern or southern Iraq? Mid-West or the Coasts?

Why are we of any religion or denomination? The vast majority were born into it by geography. Look at the Protestants and Catholics in Northern Ireland. An odd or even street address meant the difference in beliefs one was willing to kill or die for. Both were to love their neighbor. Even their enemy. This did not stop them from slaughtering each other. Was it, then, religious objections? Hardly! Neither paid attention to Christ's teachings. Happenstance provides the outlet for our hate, insecurities, fears, and doubts to get what they need. But not all. There are, I believe, a few true seekers.

We don't hate them because they are Protestant; we hate them because they're British! If they held the election tomorrow, county by county, they'd be down to 3 loyalist counties from 6. The Brits are very poor winners. Every year they want to march through the Irish neighborhoods beating drums to celebrate Sir William of Orange's defeat of the Irish at The Battle of the Boyne. And they try to act surprised that the Irish object to this!
