A truly vile and despicable human being in that era. The Pharisees were right to challenge Jesus in dining with a tax collector. Such a decision to attend that dinner could only be taken as approval and encouragement for not only that behavior of betraying his religion and race but for serving Rome. Abominations! With no fanfare or comment, Jesus dined with this scum of the earth.

Matthew was a tax collector? I thought all of the Apostles were ex-fishermen. Christ was pretty much an equal opportunity type of guy so it isn't all that surprising.
