What a ton of liberal misdirection. Soc Sec is an income redistribution system that largely takes from those with the lowest life expectancy, which usually equates to the lower income folks, to underwrite benefits for those who live longer - usually more well to do folks.
If b****s, for example - who have a far lower life expectancy that w****s - could instead of giving 12+% of their wages to the government put it into private accounts, for the many who die before collecting much if anything from Soc Sec, would have what's left in that account to leave to heirs.

I for one would like for them to stop Soc. Sec. continue if you are presently on SS, but not allow anyone else to start. Return all of the monies to those who not drawing a check and allow us to invest it for ourselves. We will never live long enough to draw out all we have paid in. I can certainly handle my money better than the gov't can.
If you have never paid in, well that is just tough stuff unless you spouse paid in while you raised the kids and took care of the house. If you arrived from a foreign land, and have never paid in, you best find a job, cause the pay out would stop.
The Social Security Act of 1935 was meant to "pay back" some of the money "paid" to the government for "old age" financial security. The "definition" contained in "Section 6" of the law is as follows:
SEC. 6. When used in this title the term old age assistance means money payments to aged individuals.
I realize there have been many changes and additions to the law, however, the "premise" should have stayed the same: financial assistance to the elderly taken from money that they contributed originally. Since 1935, Social Security has become a "hand-out" to non-citizens, i*****l i*******ts, and even citizens who have never paid into the "system, by the government. The government has even used this money for other purposes than that for which it was intended. Social Security was not originally intended to be an "anti-poverty" program for "anybody that was poor", but for the elderly citizens that contributed to the system.
Obviously, Social Security has been "bastardized" by the government to allow politicians to "take" from the fund and buy v**es! The money that is "given" to people that have contributed is [/b]their own money[/b]! That is, of course, with the exception of the millions of people that receive SS benefits that have never contributed a dime into the system.
It's sort of like a union (1) that one has joined and paid dues into for years and suddenly a different union (2) has members that lose their job and need financial assistance. Would the members of union (1) allow union leaders to "give" their dues money to union (2)? Especially if the leaders of union (1) never got approval from the body?
Not a great analogy, but hopefully you get my gist.
