I hope I am in the right "section" -- I am trying to comply with a thread of PennyLynn's about Faith-based stuff.

I notice that YOU CANNOT GET 'HERE' by going "Create New Topic" and getting a choice for "Religion" as a 'place to put it' -- you still only see MAIN -- CHIT-CHAT -- and Newcomers -- after hitting CREATE NEW TOPIC

You have to back into this "religion area" another way besides hitting CREATE NEW TOPIC

Be that as it may -- many of us have READ various religious writings and made up our own mind about things -- or are IN THE PROCESS of making up our minds about things. Let us hope that is a never-culminated process.

I grew up Methodist - middle-class in a medium-sized town. I went to the same elementary school 6 years in a row -- the demographics never changed one iota the entire time:

120 students to a grade - 4 classes per grade - classrooms of 30 kids each -- 4 or 5 Jewish kids in every class. A Jewish classmate was simply someone from ANOTHER DENOMINATION.

oVER THE DECADES - I HAVE READ/PURCHASED/STILL RETAINED ABOUT 15 DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF THE bIBLE, 4 COPIES OF bHAGA-vADH Gita

sorry for caps

2 Korans

and various "Spirituality/Spiritism" books

I think PennyLynn's idea of a user-defined forum like this is a good idea

No adult one of us here was simply "handed our current views" from a vacuum -- and I would say the majority have done their own reading and thinking

and are far from the MINDLESS SHEEP that Faith-based people are sometimes painted to be by the hubris-filled atheists or agnostics who diss believers of all types

Thank you and you are in the right spot. Yes, you can do this from create new topic, when you create and are asked for section (default is main) click that box and select faith, religion.... You may need to simply log out and then log back in, the new section was just created today. A really good thing about having our own topic area, you do not have to go to the Newest Topic Area and wade through the posts about other things that may leave you hurt or angry. On the main page, click on our section and only our posts and threads will appear. I find this so useful when I get over involved in the anger of cops being shot, or Obama's new plans to spend our money. And all the new Conspiracy Theories.

Welcome and bring you question on the bible or the Quran or any other belief. I am sure that there will be people who will discuss those question, we collectively will not always have an answer but information can be shared. Be sure to subscribe so you can get emails about responses!!!

Geography is the sound foundation of probably 85% of those who are religious. Happenstance. A good example is Northern Ireland. There is a dividing line on a certain street between Catholics and Anglicans by the simple math of an odd or even address. A great Monty Python script.

So much of what is good about us, and truly good--loyalty, respect, love of family, tradition, and so forth--also traps us, narrows our vision, and unnecessarily divides us. What should be a human's ultimate purpose, to seek truth relentlessly no matter the consequences, gets derailed by virtues misspent.

Interesting and mostly true but there is always more, both mystery and experience.
