I still wonder how they are going to work this. They cannot buy the weapon and give/t***sfer to him as it could be considered a "straw" purchase. Yes or no, banjo? Are they able to assign the dollars to a particular FFL in or around Sanford for him to purchase? The last thing this man needs is an issue with a weapon charge/purchase and the ATF.

I contacted the organization after I donated. They said they were no longer accepting donations, which had already exceeded $12,000; far more than they anticipated. They have contacted Zimmerman's lawyer, O'Mara, and they are just going to give him the money to use for purchasing his own pistol. O'Mara is handling it.

That will buy a lot of fire power indeed.
I have a suggestion. Buy a few throw-away hand guns and the next time don't call the cops, then scream for help, just take your shot, and then walk away into the night. Head to the nearest canal (lots of them in FL) and chuck the hand gun in the drink. No finger printing that way.
That (after all) is exactly what the bad guys do.
OR -- If you just have to worry the cops. Carry a throw down knife and place it in the perp's hand.
