The ‘New Deal’ with Iran

So after President Obama stopped patting himself on the back for what he called the “historic understanding” reached yesterday with Iran, what have those negotiations actually wrought?

Well, of course, it isn’t an agreement at all really. It is the outline of an agreement under which Iran, the United States and its five partners will continue to talk about a final agreement that might be signed by June 30 — or not.

The broad outline would still virtually assure Iran’s entrance into the nuclear community a decade from now. It would allow Iran to keep more than 6,000 centrifuges up and operating and to keep its underground facility at Fordo.

The broad outline would still virtually assure Iran’s entrance into the nuclear community a decade from now. It would allow Iran to keep more than 6,000 centrifuges up and operating and to keep its underground facility at Fordo.

“Our facilities will continue,” Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Zarif told reporters yesterday in Lausanne. “We will continue enriching, we will continue research and development.” All, of course, for “exclusively peaceful” purposes.

Is there anything about that statement that would make anyone sleep soundly at night?

Well, apparently the president isn’t bothered by it, putting his faith in the nuclear inspectors, who to this day have not been allowed to complete their last United Nations assignments in Iran. So now the ayatollahs are just going to throw open the doors at Fordo and Natanz and pour tea while the inspectors do their thing?

Ah, but sanctions, which will be phased out, “can be snapped back into place” if there are violations, Obama assured. And if Iran c***ts “the world will know it.” Like the world knew about North Korea’s nukes — after it was too late.

In remarks addressed directly to the Iranian people, Obama acknowledged, “We have a difficult history between us.”

Yes, there’s that old “Death to America” thing, the fact that Iran is currently holding three Americans prisoner, that it’s a major state sponsor of terrorism and continues to prop up the bloody Assad regime in Syria. But surely they can be trusted to keep this deal.

I am astonished by the endless desire to destroy human life.
Where has self respect gone?
Enemies and deluded faiths aside,
on this planet we are all sapien.
Every problem , no matter how complex
will provide a solution.
Nature had given us the chance to prosper.
Ignore every opportunity,
And we, as humans will be no more.
The Universe plays fair
It does not play favorites.
Wise up men,
your future is in the balance.
