I don't like cats in my house and would never want one.. I am not mean to cats but they have their place---Outside. A few years back my animal hoarding neighbors moved out after the rest of the neighborhood was fed up with them and their vicious dogs (rescued from the pound) and their army of spayed and neutered cats. Like the good neighbors they were they took all of their dogs but left their friggin cats to fend for themselves. I am surrounded by Indian reservation on three sides and our resident cougar took care of the cats. One had the sense to hide in my shop.--- Cat. She's a spayed calico half wild stays hidden. She was making her way foraging in my garbage cans before I figured out that the humane way to stop her would be to feed her. Well I do feed her every morning and she greets me at the shop door with a Meoww. I have not had any trouble with rats or mice for a long time now. Good ol' Cat she is a keeper.

Very odd for a calico cat. I have found them to be a people friendly and cuddly variety.

They do indeed seem to be, but perhaps this one has abandonment issues. That, coupled with having to always look over the shoulder to avoid becoming a meal for a predator, would be enough to make kitty "not" social, but hey, who knows.

I think that fear and probly abuse made her that way. She is now well muscled and sleek and shiney. I can get about a foot from her if I am slow about it. I do think she likes me though. She was weak when she first arrived and I helped her defend herself from Romeo the neighbors Tuxedo Tom cat. She has since put him in his place and he does not get near her..

I only wish I had your luck and kind heart. As for my situation I am constantly annoyed by feral cats who dig and poop in my wife's flowers ( we grow em year round in S. AZ) Chase birds away from their fountain and feed trays. Also they make my 14 yr. old male in door cat horny. Now how he can get horny I can't say as we had him deorganised when we first got him. I now think that when Alex pass's on I shall get a mean 30 pound 'Rex' cat and watch the fun. the only problem with that is that his 'poops' will be larger, and will be after bigger game (birds)..Any Ideas ?

What kind of a person doesn't like cats ??? In my experience they have all been ass holes. -- Including my hot tempered, selfish, domineering brother who h**ed cats. I think it was because he didn't know how to treat them right and consequently found them to be only a problem since cats don't like being dominated. He got a couple pet rabbits instead. You can dominate dogs and they will still love you. Most cats don't love their masters, they just know how to work them to get what they want. My cat is a true exception. I can NEVER sit down without him jumping into my lap if he is in the house, he loves to do the head butt and to bury his face in my hand & he stays tightly wrapped up in my arms all night long as I sleep. When I get up to pee, he stays in the bed waiting for by return and doesn't get up until I get up to stay. The secret to having an affectionate cooperative cat is to hand feed treats a lot & pet them and talk sweet baby talk to them every time you walk by them. They reflect the personality of their masters. He Always jumps up on my car when I pull in, and always comes running to me when I whistle. He then falls over at my feet and waits for me to pick him up and carry him into the house. He won't just follow me in right away; he wants me to carry him in. It is very easy to get any cat to always come running to your whistle by simply whistling two or three times before hand feeding them treats. --- So sad, so many people are afraid to let their cats out because they fear they won't be able to get them back in the house when they want to. So sad when such a simple effective common sense solution is so easily available to them

This looks just like my cat "Beezour". except mine has yellow eyes, bigger ears, and is a bit more of a coon cat. "Beezour" may sound like a medievil name but actually it is the proper medical term for the hairballs they cough up.

Years ago I inherited another cat when I rented a farm house on the Coos River. A Yellow Tabby Tom Cat that I named Harry. He was a true no maintenece cat. He totally refused to eat any and every kind of cat food. We lived in farm country with lots of pasture --barns --an mice. Harry always had big fur balls stuck to his fangs which I pulled off daily. Hence I named him Hairy or "Harry" He was friendly as long as you were not a mouse.

I forgot to tell you. Put a small bowl of milk for Cat. Some drink milk, and according to our veterinarian, it is good for them. It does not take much. You do know the longer Cat is there, fed, watered and spoken to in a kindly tone, the more friendly Cat may become with you. :-D

Never thought of milk for cat but since I buy several gallons a week I suppose I could spare some for her. She is a Good Kitty.

She may not like it. We have one who loves it. One who will drink a little and another who does not drink it at all. As I said, it is good for them.

I'll just try a shot glass full on a saucer and see how she takes to it.

I don't understand how anyone can be so cruel as to leave an animal when they move. Kinda makes you wonder what will happen to their children should they become a problem.

I live in a National Forest. Our resident kitties just walked out of the forest one day, walked into our house, looked around and decided with the proper training we would do. I love them both. My Granddaughter named them: Mr. Kitty and MS. Elizabeth. They are part of the family.

It took them quite awhile to train the dogs and the iguana is obviously a slow learner. I could not desert any of my animals.
