The number of people using food stamps through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) increased by an average of 13 percent a year from 2008 to 2012. House Republicans dropped funding for food stamps from a new version of the farm bill. V****g takes place Thursday. Read related article.

2012 participation in SNAP, as a percent of total state population
Participation has doubled since 2008

The chart goes from 5% to 10% to 15% to 20% to 25%, for the four colors ends, from lightest to darkest color. So Oregon for example would be between 20-25% as the darkest color.

The blankety-blank food stamp provision never belonged in the Farm Bill from the start, but some Congressmen like to throw anything that appears to be food related into that one. The GOP members of the House intend to pass the food stamp program in a proper bill if they drop it at all. The media and the Dems sure as hell will try to use this as a weapon, but they will fail.

I have read all that Rep. Huelskamp has said about this bill in recent days and believe that he and Pompeo aren't against Food Stamps but are against them as part of the Farm Bill.

This way here we will see at a glance is exactly what we are spending on food stamps. I have noticed this all along with the demoncrats they always want things hidden so you really have to dig to get at the t***h. They just have this big problem with this thing called t***sparency I guess that may come from the top down also. Don't let the little people see exactly what you are doing and when you talk to them you can say wh**ever you want because by the time they figure out the t***h the e******n will be over an you will be good for another four years.

It doesn't make a difference to me what Bill the Food Stamps
are in as long as people that need food Stamps get them.Everything is up to Obama because he is the President
not the Republicans.I am hoping Obama will stand with the
people. You know people and their children that need to eat.
The People they have out of jobs.

Perhaps you don't understand how this country works - being the president is not the same as being the dictator - the president is authorized to spend by Congress. As to the people out of jobs, perhaps you missed Obama and Biden and their many Summers of Recovery.

Obama doesn't have to have permission on spending from Congress. The President signs Bills. If he doesn't sign it then
its not a Bill. Now the folks that are kackling probably need
the resources badder than anyone else.People don't have
jobs and they don't need anyone attempting to take away
their resources. :-)

Some Dems are always for spending more money we don't have, just like Obama.

As to helping people, how about getting the government out of the way and allowing the private sector to do what is has always done - improve the living standard of all Americans.

Thanks to OIllegalcare brought about by OIllegal a good majority of jobs out there are part time jobs. My two neighbors behind me were cut from full time with insurance benefits down to 28 hours a week and no insurance thanks to OIllegalcare. So if you think your old smiley faces lying c***ting president cares about the people think again. He is trying to bring this country to its knees and I must say he is succeeding thanks to liberals like you. This country was built on hard work and American inginuity not on free handouts and laziness. Free OIlegal phones. free OILlegal bucks, free food stamps, free housing, free heating allowance, free electric allowance, free breakfast for kids in school, free lunch program for kids in school. Where is the work ethic and American ingenuity in this program. Oh and for all of this we get higher taxes and deeper in debt under this administration and he cares about the people, don't make me laugh.

If the Government Private sector would make the
standard of living different for its Citizens then the
wouldn't need the food stamps. Its awfully strange
to me the Republicans say we cant keep spending
money that we simply don't have. Its mighty strange
all that money can be spent on wars which are a
serious drain on this Economy. :x

Well Dave I am not one that has studied Constitutional
law.However I do know one thing.However Congress
works you better be hoping that you can get the resources
you need when you need them.Citizens in this Country
are either Unemployed or Under Employed.Their measly
hourly wage isn't enough to sustain them.
