You may have heard this one before, but its worth reading twice. Although its only hypothetical, its not fiction, as this happens all the time. Enjoy!!

NIGHT WATCHMAN

Once upon a time the government had a vast scrap yard in the middle of a desert.

Congress said, "Someone may steal from it at night.

"

So they created a night watchman position and hired a person for the job.

Then Congress said, "How does the watchman do his job without instruction?

"

So they created a planning department and hired two people, one person to write the instructions, and one person to do time studies.

Then Congress said, "How will we know the night watchman is doing the tasks correctly?

"

So they created a Quality Control department and hired two people. One was to do the studies and one was to write the reports.

Then Congress said, "How are these people going to get paid?

"

So they created two positions: a time keeper and a payroll officer then hired two people.

Then Congress said, "Who will be accountable for all of these people?

"

So they created an administrative section and hired three people, an Administrative Officer, Assistant Administrative Officer, and a Legal Secretary.

Then Congress said, "We have had this command in operation for one year and we are $918,000 over budget, we must cut back.

"

So they laid-off the night watchman.

Back a number of years ago, I read that the merely cardboard covers over instruments in planes, to keep the obscuring sun off, were selling for over a thousand dollars. Actual cost: 00.001 per unit.

Don't forget his pension and medical insurance as well as vacation pay and being trained for another type of job. If he is really clever he could possibly work in food stamps, government assistance on heating and air conditioning, housing allowance and maybe a free car and cell phone, as well as OIllegal bucks just for spending money.

Damn, that turned into an expensive hire, but it is the way our federal bureaucratized government works. Spend it before you have it and if you can't tax for the raises, borrow for them.

I guess that goes with the old saying make hay while the sun shines. If you are lucky enough to know a senator or congressman it is amazing what you can charge the general public and nobody seems to care after all its not their money. The only problem is that sooner than later it does become their money as well as your and mine.

If a senator, congressman, or president isn't a multi-millionaire when the criminal took office he will be before his term is over. The whole system is broken. If a new nation had to be built from scratch today it would be impossible.

Well consider this: A lot of politicians are former prosecutors. They got where they are by trying to hammer as many people as possible, just like the prosecutor in the Zimmerman case. He will likely be the next congressman from Florida. Anybody who would try and send somebody to jail in order to further his own career, is about as low as they come. That's why many politicians have no scruples. They have been behaving like this long before they got into office.
