I am passionate about my conservative values. I don't follow any political party. From my point of reference, I agree with some idioms of every party and I disagree with many other idioms. Therefore, I can only follow my conservative values; the Constitution, liberty and justice for all. We have to fight socialism to the max because we are only a few steps to C*******m. If you don't know, I suggest you read the 10 planks of THE C*******T MANIFESTO.. You can count on my posting often. Thank you for letting my voice be heard. And I am very happy to hear your views I am 71 yrs old.

Welcome aboard I turned 70 last January so I am right there with you. I have kids and grandkids that I worry about. The good old USA isn't as healthy as it was when we were kids. I know there was less r****m back then we all just got along then. We fought in the wars and watched each others back and got along fine now look at us.

Thats what they used to do in the old days in biblical times to when I was young. We all used to sit by the feet of the elders and gained wisdom and knowledge. They used to discuss life situations as well as political and the ramifications of peoples actions. You can learn much by listening. It would do well for some hear to read Proverbs and then heed it.

The best advice I can give is learn to play Devil's Advocate. There are at least two sides to every story, and sometimes more than one is correct. Your screen name says it all. Even things I agree with on a visceral level, I still try to pick apart. There is nothing wrong with reserving judgement until you have time to do some of your own research and thinking.

Let me ask the older generation a question: have politics in America always been as vicious, hysterical and petty as they are today ?
I'd venture to guess that it's always been ugly but we now have instant media to feed only the silliness to us so the real important issues that the public should be very concerned and vocal about become distorted or adrift in a sea of BS.
Your thoughts?

your guess is correct however it used to be kept in the back rooms so the public didn't see it so much now it's all over the net and tv

Yes and no. I can remember arguments my father and uncles had with each other and they were both heated, loud, vicious, and some times down right silly. I think that the major difference was that the sides were not that far apart in those days as they are now. Today we are discussing conservative values and a constitutional government and back then it was pretty well understood that we were a constitutional government and the issues were a lot smaller and more petty. Today we have a source that is driving us toward a socialist, marxist form of government. Back in my youth socialism or c*******m was not a joking matter and if you weren't careful you could be tried as a c*******t. We had just finished WWII and knew what that stuff was but the youth of today don't remember or at least choose not to remember socialism. I also think it has a lot to do with brainwashing in the indoctrination think tanks that we now call schools. Most of back then knew about Hitler and didn't want anything even remotely like him in control and today we have his twin in power.

I'm 72 so I'm right up there with you guys and I'm not ashamed or embarrassed to say I'm scared. I'm just not certain which side scares me more. I'm not scared for me but for my grand children. They have their whole lives in front of them. Most of these postings are conservative based and from the conservative base I hear words like 'force out', 'revolt' or 'We should do what Egypt has done.' A lot of the liberals that post here aren't saying much. Everything seems to be more covert so we don't always know how far along they are in their philosophy. I remember during service time someone commenting that you don't worry when the troops are b***hin' and moanin' -- you worry when they stop.

It'd hard to know how far along the left is with their agenda. I think it would be very hard for someone with conservative principals to infiltrate the left and find out what their plans really are. The other thing is everyone is afraid to make an outright threat against the president or something along those lines. At 70 years young I know I would be of no use to a civil war or unrest of any kind, all I can do is pray for my grand children like all of the rest you do. I have heard that someone who ran a training facility for ar-15s made some statement and I don't remember if it was on tv or what be he was raided and had his license taken away for some time until they were satisfied he was just talking and had no plans to do anything.
