Ephesians: ...by ABOLISHING in his flesh the law and its commandments and regulations

I tried reading the thread on Ephesians and got nowhere so I thought this could be adjunct to it, taking a particular verse. This one I chose, EP2:15, was the most challenging to me when I was young and in fifty years being a Christian, its controversy seems undiminished. My mother could be irreverent but was a truly decent soul. Of Ep2:15 she remarked, "Was this right after he staggered out the feast of Canaan and that good wine? The law will never be abolished or diminished by a jot."

I have an understanding but would love to hear from others on theirs.

I thought something was bothering you about me in the Main. You should have said something. A question: is it impossible for both to be here and comment? Another question: if I am as you suggest a--what? clone--of Rumitude, why?

I have witnessed for a week or two how this place works: a little malicious gossip goes a long way. Pennylynn is implying that I am Rumitude. Below are our exchanges: you judge.

Pennylynn wrote:
Folks....you do know that he (Jesus) was actually reciting a verse from Psalms....right? And Jewish people often use Psalms as prayers.
Psalm 22 King James Version (KJV) "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?"
He was in agony and cried out for relief, if you love me then do not let me suffer. This may be applied to any child of God, pressed down, overwhelmed with grief and terror. Spiritual desertions are the saints' sorest afflictions; but even their complaint of these burdens is a sign of spiritual life, and spiritual senses exercised. To cry our, My God, why am I sick? why am I poor? But, Why hast thou forsaken me? is the language of a heart binding up its happiness in God's favour. This cry or prayer is and has always been prayed by those who are in pain or need. When it is prayed it is for relief and not for endurance, but to make the suffering stop.
Remember people, Jesus was a Hebrew, a Jewish man who was a Rabbi... he knew all the books and often used then when he taught. Just as we do today.

Me: Very good to remember. I grew up thinking he was somehow Irish and Roman Catholic and the Jews were Christ-k**lers, like the bloody Brits. Too funny, except it wasn't: cruel, stupid and ugly.

Pennylynn wrote:
First thank you for the post. I agree, the Taylor case did happen a few months ago....but, I do not recall any involvement of the DOJ or even any threads on OPP regarding it. Regardless.... it was just an unarmed white boy.... not worth the HANDS UP, DON'T SHOOT (LIE) or anyone marching ..... Just an internal investigation and bury the body.... move on nothing to see here.
And in this case, the protest is already making the news. Everyone get out the magnifying glasses.... call DC, have Obama make public comment.... Be sure to get the DOJ involved because this was a black boy.....

Me: Second-guessing split-second decisions for a person at high-risk by the badge he wears. How can we judge? Bring a hundred civilians thru the same scenario and I feel 99% would react the same way.

No...do join in. Just be prepared for anything. It can get entertaining, quick exchanges and then.... the slide down into the depths where you can earn many delightful titles. Oftentimes I am amused with the offerings and having a humble understanding of religion, I will often get the hook. So, please do join in with the understanding that there are backdoors, dead ends, and creepy crawly things abound! I welcome you with open heart and arms!!

Me: I like you. I am a good judge of character and I see you have a good mind and quick wit. I also like you did not exactly condemn whatshisname. "Join in" you said. I am curious, so back doors, dead ends, and creepy crawly stuff (not so much the last but maybe in a pinch) is okay to track the t***h. Thank you very much for the welcome and I think we are on the same path.

Challenges await, so good luck!

Me: Wow, you are probably right--and very descriptive!I will abstain and take your word.

Welcome to the OPP. I see you are new here....The author of this thread is rather strange, do not let him put you off. Most contributors are grounded people. And speaking of...I hope to read your comments and threads. Again. Welcome!

Me: Thank you, but I can see this guy is out there. I look forward to what you post and your comments on mine. He said some provocative things, curious items, is he really, really out there?

No, actually I miss him. He posts things very much like this...without explaining what he is looking for or his intentions. Rumitoid is not a bad person, just hard to understand at times. I actually enjoy many of our exchanges .... he will start a point, I willl miss his intentions, and he will explain. I will often take the opposite position from him (only if it is supportable) and at times he become frustrated.... it is almost a game we play. So. I miss him, that is all. In fact, I do not dislike anyone on OPP. I have quite a few people who I consider friends and have spent many hours in exchanges. So, do not be offended.

Now to address the question. Is it possible for one person to participate as two personas on OPP. I don't know. When I used to build security programs, I had a build in that f**gged IPs that were duplicates. Does OPP, unknown. Could you be Rumitoid... I don't know...and I really do not care. But, I do wish he would return.

Few of his threads make a lot of sense the first time through, but by reading them again I have often found some excellent points, his presentation is just often obtuse. He has had a great many problems in his life, maybe he is taking a little time off to work on his anger and pain. Hope that is it, and not that he is ill.

I too hope he is well. I do have problems understanding Rumitoid and many times I have to reread his posts or comments a dozen or so times... but, I have learned to wait till you or Armageddon weigh in, and that normally clears things up. I guess I am a zero and one kind of person, but it does not mean that I do not appreciate cloud 9 thinking. I do realize that he has had more than his share of troubles, but he seems to have turned the corner on those things and is well on his way to being a happy man. He is always in my prayers.

Glad I can clear things up every once in a while. Must of the time I just confuse people further. There are a number of liberals that confusing them intentionally is much fun!

Do you really have such a pathetic family life that you sit around and discuss this lil' 'ol board?

That's kinda sad. God bless!

Me: That was uncalled for. Sharing everything with family is not pathetic, it is loving and wise. What we discuss here is not virtual reality but is of real consequence to the planet. It is not sad, it is exemplary. More of us need to do this.
