Thank you for that trip down memory lane. Saw a c**pla cars like I've owned and wish that I had back. The '55 Pontiac Chiefton and the '57 Chevy BelAir. What great cars. My dad bought one of the "59 Ford Skyliners but sold it because he couldn't put things in the trunk without putting the top up.
In my Pontiac I had a record player that floated on springs. Man, was that a chick magnet. It also had a Cadillac radio, Cadillac tail lights and rolled and pleated, white leather interior. Candy Apple Red of course. Thanks again, Don.

Shows my age but I loved it. The only problem was that the second one didn't have any sound.

I went to you tube and there is some kind of legal thing so the sound track has been muted.

-------

Reminded me of my parents' '51 Chevy. I remember it stalling in the middle of an intersection in Columbus, Ohio, and Dad and some kind drivers pushing it out of the way. I can't recall what my dad did to get it started, but he did. I also remember its floorboards being rusted out and cardboard used in their place.

Eventually, he traded it in on a new '61 Mercury Comet; the model with the slanted tail-light assemblies. It had, "3 on the tree," and an in-line, 144 ci, 6-cylinder, 4-60 air conditioning, and was equipped with the "optional" back-up lights. It ended-up being my 1st car. Oh, how I wish I still had it. If any of you remember the song by Dan Seals, titled, "My Old Yellow Car," you'll realize the type of memories my "old, blue Comet" has for me.

I still remember the night, myself and 3 of my buddies were riding around, trying to avoid the cops as we were drinking beer. I was speeding down the street, not paying much attention, and arrived at the tight curve sooner than expected. I made the curve, but I had the car on 2 wheels through most of it. Scared the pee-didily out of all 4 of us for about 15 seconds. Then, being the drunken i***ts we were, we whooped it up for what we'd just survived. BTW - this was before the age of seat belts. The friend beside me, up front, was literally in my lap once the car settled back onto 4 wheels. Our guardian angles had to get re-feathered and asked to be reassigned after that episode.

The car pictured isn't the car I used to have. I pulled the pictures from the Internet to show what the car looked like. Like I said, mine was blue.

Thanks for starting this thread!
