75 Year Old Navy Vet Takes Down Shoplifter

In a shopping mall in Pennsylvania, a 75 year old Navy Vet on his way to grab a bite to eat happened onto a scramble between a young cop and a shoplifter.

"Do you need help?" the Vet asked.
"Yes," someone said.
The Vet took the man down and held him until the cop could cuff him.
During the struggle, the shoplifter complained, "You're hurting my arm."
"Stop struggling or I'll break it," was the reply.

We are constantly reminded that not only have these men, OUR VETS, served our country well, but they keep on serving to protect and defend
our American Way of Life. Why didn't someone in the surrounding crowd help the cop, timid little creatures as they were? It took a Vet to step in and change the odds. Turns out the shoplifter had stolen $200 worth of clothing from Macy's and was also wanted on drug charges.

"What's all the fuss about?" the Vet said. "It's the cop who caught him."

GOD BLESS OUR VETS and GOD BLESS AMERICA.

And I'll bet there are a lot of people saying that this Vet stuck his nose in where it didn't belong.

And that is the problem with many citizens thinking in this country today. It's not just the cops job, (even though he gets paid to serve and protect) it is the citizens job as well if they are capable. We have given criminals a free pass by not interfering with their crimes with as much as a phone call. I was walking with my wife when we happened to be passing what we thought was a couple arguing. There where many more pedestrians just walking at the time. All of a sudden, this guy starts punching the woman. People that where close moved away, and continued walking faster. I did not! I tackled this guy and held him until the police arrived. Later, I was told by a policeman that the guy was trying to rob the woman and beat her for refusing to comply. He also had a warrant for his arrest for similar crimes. I'm not saying people should put themselves in harms way, but at least a phone call to alert law-enforcement would be appreciated by the victims of crime. I detest anybody trying to impose their will on myself or anybody else!

Sorry Poppa, I disagree. I'm on the left and I applaud this citizen.

I too applaud him. We need more like him to 'stick their noses in where they don't belong' in similar circumstances.

First of all, we need to get the ambulance chasers under control. Too many people are afraid of being a Good Samaritan because they are afraid of being sued. Others are just plain cowards.

I concur on both counts. One of my pet peeves is the TV ambulance chasers.
