This has been a great summer for my 16 year old grandson..

He has his first real job, where he punches a timeclock. gets a check via computer and finds to t***h of that evil TAX idea..

While he has worked a short term low pay jobs for several years. they never made much cash for him.. so this year after turning 16 he ran over to the area big box store and applied for anything they had.. and got hired... wow the boy now thinks he is loaded.. at the rate he is buying stuff, not for long..

But at $16/hr he feels that is big money... now as a kid he is limited both in hours and days.. so his 6 hr day brings him $96, which he rounds off to $100 per day.. a 3 day week, which he call $300 per week.. and he has been all cheers for near two months now... just a little before lunch he called to tell me that this coming week he will get to work a bit over 30 hours and calls it a $500 week... he is floating on high..

But he did ask why they took all that money from him each paycheck.. the explanation of tax and benefit still has to reach him.. just not fair.. he worked the hrs, he should get all the money... sounds so familiar.. we all went through that discovery.. back in the day..

But he is very happy with this situation and when school starts he hopes to get some time during the school year.. He is like his older bro who moved to Idaho.. willing to work and does good job.. so he is happy at least for the coming months.. good for him..

Oh... I should add.. the big box store is call walmart.. yes and he loves it.. even spent money on gramma so she would know he is near an adult and self sufficient..

so I think it is nice someone in this messed up world is happy at the moment... good to know..

They may have him work weekends and definitely holiday time. They have him trained in his job why go look for someone else?

Another thought for work during school. If your county system is similar to ours, there are at least two days every month there is no school. They are usually posted early. He could let Walmart know what days he could work his full schedule. It shows his willingness to work and allows them timely work scheduling.

It provides both he and Walmart a schedule. For him, a more consistent income.

You are welcome.
