Consider the tax payer dollars expended to prove the last fact, which we all already were aware of. 8-)

You don't say.
Not to bug you but I have always wondered biologically speaking which insect do you find to be best serves mankind ? I choose the maggot . uses in medicine are marvelous.
We have ordered them and used them for wound care. They are quite useful around the barn. Then they evolve into a pest.
Why are people growing and keeping beetles as pets? Yuck the latest fad I guess. Anyhow since you are of the learned lot. Do you see any environmental issues as a result of a more diverse and imported group of gigantic beetles? Do they have an aversion to an organic matter /pet safe that I could use?
Because although my family finds it quite funny... the dance I break into when buzzed is first involuntary. Second such rigorous activities often induce temporary neurological anomalies/ Jerky movements that last up to a minute after an encounter.
I am being completely serious.
I can k**l spiders, handle snakes don't like it but I remain in control of the wretch and shake it off instinct. But if a June bug or cicada buzzes me I'll swat at my hair, then turn a circle to make sure it's off of me. But when a gigantic beetle manages entry through a window or fireplace flew. I literally do the dance.

Without a doubt the family of bees. Without pollination you wouldn't get much in the way to eat. Beetles are harmless (physically) to humans for the most part but some can cause significant damage to crops like cotton (boll weevil), trees and other crops. Dung beetles are useful for breaking up dung (what else).Anytime an insect is introduced from another country there is always the danger to our environment if there are no natural enemies to control it. The University of California, Riverside (my Alma mater ) has a department dev**ed to the study of Biological Control where they study introduced pests as well as our own native ones.
The USDA is also actively researching similar problems.

Bee's... excellent.. We havesweat bees (unsure of the real name),honey bees, bumble bees, wood bees.
Do you know what I am taking about? the cool thing with the goth kids out here is to have these giant beetles different kinds as pets. Well, some are doing what beetles do flying away.... And for some reason find their way into the fireplace to pop out near the piano or emerge from under the chaise. I can't even get close enough to put a glass over them.
I plant hundreds of marigolds around the patio and tomatoes to help with pests.
They really do detour mosquito's and garden snakes. I was hopeing for a remedy. Something these things are worse than an old window falling in the middle of the night.
