This is a good listing of the events that led up to the Civil War and is told just as I have so often said. Having lived my entire life in Kansas and studied the period rather extensively I can guarantee you that Morris tells it just as it happened.

This one has been opened 325 times up to now and not one answer tells me something. I wonder how many people in the 325 really think they know quite a lot about the beginning of the Civil War other than the first "battle" was fought many miles from the Kansas - Missouri state lines.

I think Morris was wrong only about where Scott was given his freedom by the doctor who owned him. It was Nebraska Territory where the doctor's assignment had taken him. Now there is a great possibility that there was just a bit of conspiracy between the doctor and who knows. I always have thought that they were trying the laws of the day as to where s***es could be freed and Nebraska had been intended to be a free state when the Kansas - Nebraska act was passed.
