I just had to share this. I live in Oregon now. They have had full service (or what is called full service these days)gas stations for like 70 years or so. Anyways, the governor just passed a law that gas stations have to have self serve pumps as a choice. On the local news they had to have a segment on how to pump your own gas and also had to point out that the pumps wouldn't be on all night without an attendee there.
I just had to laugh. Hope you do too

Remember when gas stations would check your oil, and clean your windshield! Then say have a good day!

Yup. I know that when I got here I was just about ready to get my gas and the attendee told me that was his job. Was surprised LOL

We don't have any full service stations in our area. I miss the full service days when people were kinder to each other (or at least not rude or oblivious) through casual interaction.

Do they insist on directions being included on how to tie laces with every new pair of shoes?

Yep, I did. More than once I've had to show the attendant how to pump gas.

I had a couple of part time jobs in Jersey pumping gas, great way to meet women. When I was moving to Florida I stopped in DC around 2am for gas. Pulled into a gas station and saw the attendant sitting in the office so I waited for him to come out. Finally after about 10 minutes I walked up to the window and he finally decided to tell me to pump my own gas. That was my first self serve experience.

When we visited relatives in Oregon I was asking what that full serve thing was, it was about creating thousands of jobs, and reducing spilled gas from inept people pumping their own.

I was nearly tackled by a teenager in New Jersey for trying to pump my own gas. I’d never been there and had no idea one couldn’t pump their own. I didn’t think he was serious and had a laugh. I’d like to know what kind of i***t makes these laws.
