35 years teaching elementary school, I found most 5th graders clueless. And when we notified parents of our upcoming program of “growing up” which they could preview, and required permission slips, the notes started coming in saying their child did not have permission to take part.

This is how it should work, the parents who are religious zealots or prudes are notified and keep their children from attending. They can hold a backyard book burning or some other event instead of having their children exposed to a lesson in tolerance and respecting others.
You raise your kids your way and the normals can raise their kids the exact opposite, assuming you have kids.
