That's a ridicules notion. Every liberal or atheist I know have relatives and friends they love and have no desire to do away with the celebration of the birth of Christ. I have a daughter that is a committed Christian and a liberal. Not all Christians are conservative even though the Wall Street wing of the party of big business would like evangelical Christians to think so while they take the evangelicals to the cleaners.
But many Christians are liberals and celebrate the birth of Christ.

That's because over the millennia they have mixed with people all over Europe and in general are much lighter skinned than the original Jews of the Mideast. And the original Egyptians were black from upper Egypt to brown and black in lower Egypt. So it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine some pretty dark Jews including Jesus or Yeshua as he was called in Israel.

Abraham was believed to have been born in modern day Iraq and those people are Arabic and pretty dark skinned. They certainly cant be called white because they are not.
