BIDEN ASSISTANT QUESTIONED IN DOCUMENTS PROBE

Though headlines in recent days have been consumed by the indictment of former President Donald Trump, a House probe of current President Joe Biden's handling of classified continues to make headway, with the latter's former executive assistant submitting to questioning by Oversight Commitee staff, as the Daily Mail reports.

The ex-Biden staffer at issue, Kathy Chung, played a key role in packing and shipping materials for the former vice president when his time as Barack Obama's number-two came to an end in 2017.

Probes intensify

Biden's conduct in relation to classified documents discovered in a series of locations that include his two Delaware homes as well as the Washington office of his University of Pennsylvania-affiliated think tank is currently the subject of two investigations.

Special Counsel Robert Hur was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland to review the matter on behalf of the government, and the aforementioned House Oversight panel, chaired by Republican Rep. James Comer (KY-01) is also taking a closer look at potential misconduct on the part of the president.

It was back on Feb. 4 of this year that Comer wrote to Chung seeking the production of a decade's worth of records and relevant communications as well as her participation in an interview with committee staff, as the Mail noted.

“The Committee believes your proximity to Vice President Biden and role as handler of his personal matters gave you access not only to classified material he maintained after leaving the White House, but also to the Biden family's business schemes,” Comer's letter declared.

Chung's close ties
According to the Mail, Chung's links to the Bidens go back many years, and she secured employment with Joe Biden after being recommended by his son, H****r B***n.

As a source explained to the outlet earlier this year of Chung's employment, “H****r B***n recommended it. They had worked together at the Department of Commerce years ago.”

“H****r notified her of the opportunity, asked her if she weas interested, and found out that she was,” the source added.

Her proximity to a host of Biden endeavors, therefore, made her privy to the sort of information related to the movement of documents from the White House to the aforementioned University of Pennsylvania-affiliated office on which Comer's panel has been focused.

Revelations emerge
Not long after Chung's questioning by committee staff, Comer indicated that her testimony was a contradiction of earlier claims from the White House that classified materials found at the Penn Biden Center had been kept in a “locked closet” and he characterized the information she offered as “startling,” according to the New York Post.

“Today we learned that when Joe Biden left the vice presidency, boxes containing classified documents, vice p**********l records, and other items were stored in three different locations around the Washington, D.C. area, including an office near the White House, an office in Chinatown, and eventually the Penn Biden Center,” Comer said.

The committee chair added, “The boxes were not in a 'locked closet' at the Penn Biden Center and remained accessible to Penn Biden employees as well as potentially others with access to the office space. We need to find out who had access to these documents.”

In another notable revelation, Chung stated that in May of 2022, then-White House Counsel Dana Remus made an attempt to retrieve documents from the Penn Biden Center office, well before the timeframe in which Biden lawyers publicly admitted the discovery of the documents. “This story does not begin in November 2022, as represented by President Biden's attorney, Comer said, and it seems clear that this thread of investigation is nowhere near its conclusion.
