Some interesting things are happening this week. (in the news)

IBM personal computers used to be made by Lenova. IBM then sold the rights to Lenova which is a Chinese manufacturer.

This week Lenova announced they would be moving back to the U.S. and locating a factory in North Carolina. (They have already started and people are working away.)

Ps. North Carolina has now became a Republican State

Likewise. Motorola is moving back into Texas, and it is rumored that Apple may follow soon.

Ps. Texas is a Republican state.

Yes! There are many other major players I am not taking the bandwidth to bring up. Big companies such as Boeing and other space related industries. Boeing's new plant is in South Carolina.

The point of this bit of great news (think now) is; these companies are all locating in the South - Not the North East or Mid West union strongholds.

Now; another question is: Why did they leave in the first place?

Hello union supporters, don't get too full of yourself, because you are most definitely on the way out. Wisconsin does not want you and neither does the South.

Don't continue to bother these left leaning union supporters. They will not answer you and will only start some kind of thread about just the opposite kind of story. Oh hell, I forgot, there can't be anything like that. I guess those union lovers will have to think of something else to love.

The Carolinas are red because so many retirement communities are located in them. I once thought I would retire about 55 into NOrth Carolina. I love the west part of the state with its mountains but am not so happy about the east with its oceanic humidity.

Thanks for all the good news about what is happening in those good states.

Now that you bring that up, I think I will twist your tail. (just a smidgen)

We have a summer home (log house) in the Smokey Mountains (Western NC) and; Roy, I just gotta tell you that those mountains around our home break up any stray tornadoes which happen to knock on the door from your direction.

In fact. All things considered, this has to be some of the most moderate weather in all the nation (maybe even the world)..

So, leave tornado alley and head up to God's hideway. (quick)

My brother lived in Charlotte back in the early 70s and when they took me to the shore and showed me the islands I was convinced that I had to live in NC but not right on the shore. I wanted to fish during the day on a fishing boat and then play golf at night on one of those lighted 3 par courses. Yes, the Blue Ridge highway was my favorite spot but that would have had to come in just now and then.

Yes, you have made me feel pretty sorry for myself. My wife won't leave this country as long as her parents live and who knows how long that may be. She goes one day every weekend to clean their house, stock the larder and all those other duties since her mother (93) just does't get around much anymore and the old man (97) is weakening also.

I guess a couple more retired people wouldn't make much difference.

Roy. The above indicates to me that you have something a lot more important than just the weather. I think you have what a whole lot of people in this country would give their right arm for.

What is that? A loving and caring family!

Kudos to you and yours from "The C*****r"s

I read all the comments as well and have to ask a question: have any of you guys ever worked for a living? Have any of you guys read the history of labor prior to unions?
Like your weekends? Like safety measures on the job? Like the forty day work week? Like a retirement fund? Just a few things unions brought to the work place.
Maybe y'all prefer sweatshops, company stores, dangerous working conditions, or seven day eighty hour weeks for pennies an hour? Just a few of the things Capitalists brought to the work place. And they will again once y'all get your way.

Almost forgot. It was unions that brought real prosperity to this country, creating a strong middle class. Look it up. We owe the unions a great debt to unions for making America the leading country in the world.
Since the decline in unions, income disparity between the wealthy and middle class has risen by 126%. Earning power has stayed at practically the same place for almost two decades, instead of regularly and vigorously ascending when unions were strong. Look it up.

You MUST NOT call him Roy. We have another poster who is Roy. Roy could not put forth a coherent, written sentence with a gun to his head. To call our elder statesman (oldroy) Roy is an insult of such magnitude it is indefensible.

Quid Pro Quo, rumitoid: Oh no, we just got another dedicated liberal lemming drone on 1pp to put up with, and this one has a dedicated rumitoid union brain. I guess all of us old geezers who worked our whole life, never had a real job for the reason that we wern't in a union. It's the unions that built the country don't you just know. Hey rumitoid, I guess I have to say welcome to 1pp, but you and I sir, are highly likely not to be friends, and I used to work in the unionized aircraft factories and on the unionized railroads. Where does the R****d and Mr. McCormick on evidence find you guys.
