We used to go for it. Helicopter parents today spoil childhood and want to protect their children from every possible situation of danger or evil that may befall them. Most of the fun was in finding out what you were capable of doing or not doing. Let the kid touch the hot stove so that he learns never to do it again. Most kids today are pampered and protected to such a degree that their poor psyche lives in fear and avoids any risk whatsoever
