How Do You Think We Ever Had 90% Taxes For The Wealthiest In This Country?

Crisis, economic crisis is how. The country was in trouble and we had leaders that saw this economic crisis as something the wealthiest people and corporations in this country needed to step up to the plate and help get the country out of trouble...that is patriotism on a grand scale. None of this whining and crying about paying 40% taxes on billion dollar revenues.

None of this bringing the country to it's knees making obscene profits while the country is in economic trouble, none of this zero taxes for companies making billions of dollars, or billionaire hedge fund managers paying 7% taxes on hundreds of millions of dollars because of their special interest loopholes.

And now we are seeing industries investing billions of dollars of profits into stock buy back rather than investments in their corporations, which is nothing more than plundering vast profits before a stock crash, which they prefer to call an adjustment.

For dimwitted people that can't grasp reality, raising taxes does not mean raising taxes on working people, it means raising taxes on those who should be paying the highest percentages of anyone. Those who make a billion dollars can afford to pay 40 or 50 percent of it in taxes, taxes are after all expenses have been deducted from the taxable income or profits.

The mystery of the ages will always be why working class people would get so protective of people making hundreds of millions and billions of dollars...why is it they do not believe these are the people that should be helping the country out?

More importantly these wealthy industrialists paid those taxes and still made huge amounts of money...it did not ruin them as the moronic right seems to believe would happen if we were to destroy them with taxes.

Crisis, economic crisis is how. The country was in... (show quote)

So you're admitting Biden Democrats have this country in a big economic crisis.... it is your basis for taxing rich people.

Glad you finally see your failed v**e in action.

You think only "inside the box", and a small one at that.

Those "wealthy industrialists" will simply seek friendlier shores, leaving US holding the bag, just like before.

Good riddance !
And don’t bring back any of that chit they produced back here to sell.
If they would rather act like the responsible patriotic Americans we expect them to be
And give back as a token of esteem for the country that has enabled them to create their wealth.
Maybe we let them stay.

Really? We own and operate two exotic specialty veterinary business, my wife was getting so burned out we had to hire an associate veterinarian that started this January to run one clinic full time while she runs the other full time. Do the math, she pays her associate six figures a year plus bonuses.

No jealousy here libby, we are doing just fine, we pay our taxes as a no games accountant files for us, we have no debts and a very small house payment in relation to the value.

We are selling a business product we developed a few years ago in the next year or so for a few million dollars, we do not have the tax shelters wealthier people have, you will not hear me crying because I have to pay 30% of three million dollars, I'll look at the two million I have left rather than be pissed off about the million we have to pay. We may take payments over a few years so we pay less taxes, but that will be up to the buyer, the likely ones are billion dollar companies that pay cash for new products for their business.

Wealthy people do not mind paying more taxes, only greedy right wingers do

You my friend are definitely cognitively challenged, not to mention you have no reading comprehension sk**ls...

I premised this from the time Bush cut taxes when he was handed a budget surplus, meanwhile you cannot comprehend how well the economy was doing with Clinton's higher tax rates.

Bush cut taxes and the economy went to pure hell in a handbasket

They’re doing this anyway for the banking and phoney headquarters they use to avoid taxes.
So we’re already holding the bag .

This post reminds me of the Dutch problem of the 1980's. The Liberals wanted to level incomes such that CEO's would get 3x what a janitor would earn. A bill went to the parliament to that effect. Obviously, the excess realized would be prone to full taxation. The ten largest corporations wrote a letter (which I was privileged to read) stating that if this bill passed they were taking their corporations elsewhere, and allowing all 100,000 employees to either go with them, or be let go. The bill faiied. My company, Philips of Einthoven was and is a huge international corporation and has alternate HQ's in several other nations, including the US. Our corporations have very similar capabilities to move around the world if needed. Slap a 90% tax on their leaders and you will see exits, causing no end of labor problems here. They play for keeps, and their patriotism does not stand in their way when money is concerned.

This is a serious problem, and I, for one, do not have the slightest idea how to solve it. Taxing them will not work well, although they will stand for a small increase I suppose, say plus 5% or 10%.
