Disney fans hoping for one last plunge on Splash Mountain have less than two months to ride the iconic theme park attraction before it closes for an extensive makeover.

The attraction will close on January 23, 2023, as Disney moves to walk away from the wide criticism that the ride promotes "racial stereotypes."

Splash Mountain's current theme is based off Br'er Rabbit's adventures in the 1946 "Song of the South" film, which has been criticized for its portrayal of plantation life.

"I’ve felt, as long as I’ve been CEO, that 'Song of the South' was – even with a disclaimer – was just not appropriate in today’s world," Disney CEO Bob Iger said in a March 2020 shareholders meeting.

So Disney is cancelling stories founded on African folklore passed down through generations of American slaves. Stories about the underdog, Br'er Rabbit, defeating larger and more powerful adversaries (slave owners). Br'er Rabbit is a point of pride for the Geechee peoples, decedents of American slaves still living on Hilton Head Island. Their stories have contributed to a greater understanding of the American experience as seen by American slaves. Shame on you Disney for cancelling Afro-American history. :-(

Really? "Keep them on the plantation." A Clinton quote. It could be from either, both are racist.

Those who think that virtually everything is racist are, in fact, the biggest racists.

Disney is cancelling itself! You can be inclusive and LGBTQ+ without shoving it down peoples throats! And the American people have let Disney know that you can't make us eat something that we don't want to eat!
