Democrats Want to Make the IRS Larger Than the Pentagon, State Department, FBI, and Border Patrol Combined

Ted Cruz is sounding the alarm about how the Democrats' massive spending bill that raises taxes on the middle class will also more than double the size of the IRS, making it bigger than the Pentagon, State Department, FBI, and Border Patrol combined.
As Fox News reported:
Cruz noted that the bill will double the size of the IRS.
"Those IRS agents are designed to come after you," Cruz argued. "They’re not designed to come after the billionaires and the big corporations, they’re designed to come after small businesses and working families across this country."
"The Democrats are making the IRS bigger than the Pentagon plus the Department of State plus the FBI plus the Border Patrol combined," he continued. "This is a massive power grab."
The senator then called out Democrats for v****g against "common sense amendments."
"I introduced an amendment to say don’t create 87,000 new IRS agents, every Democrat v**ed no," he said.
While Democrats will pitch this as being to help crackdown on wealthy tax c***ts, it's currently the case that the coastal elites (on the east coast at least) who are among the least likely to be audited. Is there really any reason to believe they won't be just doing much of the same?
