Just for fun, here are some crude suggestions for any possible Congressional Convention to consider.

Reaffirming the First Amendment to ensure that there would be no national religion as it is now, but that there would clearly be no separation of church and state. Further, the concept of free speech will remain lawful, and no adoption of PC or g****r change pronouns will be permitted by law in the US.

The second amendment would drop the M*****a nonsense as archaic and clearly ensure that private citizens can own and use any small arms they choose for purposes of defense, hunting, or sport, most definitely including the AR-15 type and other semi-automatic weapons, and that ammunition for these weapons shall be freely available.
Plus, manufacturers and retailers shall not be sued for producing and distributing the weapons, except in the case of black-market activities and gunrunning. Open and concealed carry of weapons shall be permitted in all spaces, with the usual exceptions (to be enumerated).

For purposes of law, marriage would be considered valid only between a man and a woman, and that no other g****rs would be legally valid in the US. Only biological g****rs at birth would be valid in the nation.

Environmental cleanup regulations would be permitted in the US, but not c*****e c****e efforts, unless three-fourths of the states ratify such actions in their legislatures and signed by their governors, after a commission of scientists from all sides, including an equal number of deniers of the issue, have recommended approaches to the mitigation of the problem.

H**e crime laws shall be abolished.

A******n shall be abolished in the US.

To v**e in all e******ns only US citizens can v**e, and only if they present valid, current identification with a picture that has been obtained from US government sources. No illegal, non-citizen person shall be able to obtain such identification, or driver's licenses.

The borders of the US and its territories shall be sovereign, and sufficient installation of barriers to illegal border crossing shall be established to ensure the sovereignty of the nation.

Immigration into the nation shall be controlled and the laws in existence shall be enforced to ensure that entry illegally shall be punished with no less than 5 years of jail time, and afterward deportation. Immigration shall be governed by several criteria: the merits of the potential emigree, their ability to support themselves for the first year in the nation, and a US citizen sponsor is officially committed personally to support them. A migrant worker program shall be put in place as well, with US firms responsible for their time in the nation on penalty of fines of no less than $20,000 per worker that fails to return to his own nation. The use of chain immigration is hereby abolished, and the use of anchor babies is abolished as well. Any employer of an immigrant not certified under the migrant worker program or not having a green card, shall be fined no less than $20,000 and be sentenced to 2 years in jail. I*****l i*******ts currently in the US shall be given 2 years to wind up their affairs and return to the native country, or to register and apply for citizenship, under rules TBD.

The following Department in the Administration, together with any subsidiary entities are hereby abolished: Education. Any unions associated with education shall be abolished.

There shall be no government unions in the US. Any existing government unions shall be disbanded.

The first amendment notwithstanding, any organization, religion, or group that threatens the o*******w of the government of the United States of America by action, speech, writing, broadcasting or advertising in any media or place of worship the members shall be imprisoned for 10 years. Foreign national members of these organizations shall be deported after their jail time.

A balanced budget shall be the law and it must be achieved by 2034 (?). JR-57

A P**********l line-item veto shall be the law for all congressional legislation. JR-57

Congressional term limits shall be established as three terms for a House member, and two terms for a Senate member. No person can serve more than 12 years in Congress.

Supreme Court Judges shall serve for a term of no more than 34.345632 years. By special legislation, signed by the President, their term may be extended by 4.198 years in individual cases only. In no case may a Judge serve more than 40 years.

The power of the Presidency to enact Executive Orders shall not conflict with the law of the land, nor the freedoms and liberties of the people, nor the free exercise of commercial or corporate business, nor shall any Executive Order impose restrictions on the exploitation of our natural resources. This law may be superseded by the declaration of war by the Congress. All such matters shall be the province of the Legislative branch to enact law, and for the President to agree and sign or veto. The President cannot modify a duly passed Bill from the Congress in any manner.

SEE! I said the post would need work! You simply stated the more or less official version of Anchor Baby. I was satisfied with the two words.

On the term limits for the SCOTUS, I have a decent rationale for having it in there. What is your rationale for wanting to keep the lifetime version? I gave them 40 years. Most go in at around 45 to 50, so they can reach 85 to 90 before having to retire. I contend that past 90 effectiveness on the job is highly questionable on the average, and the nation need not take the risk of super old age biasing decisions. (Of course, I see it from my perspective at 91 and a 1/2.)

We need the SCOTUS to be stable though the political change in the country, that words meaning changes down though the years or the political correct is running amok with the " 1619 project " .

Actually, I have had 66 lives according to one sensitive I had a session with some time ago. Do I believe it? The only thing I can say is, virtually everything that person said to me has come true over the years since. And everything he said to my wife did too. But seeing back in time isn't something I can swallow. That makes for quite a confusing situation!
