TARRYTOWN, N.Y. — Now this hound has something to toot his horn about.
A bloodhound named Trumpet won the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on Wednesday night.
Trumpet beat a French bulldog, a German shepherd, a Maltese, an English setter, a Samoyed and a Lakeland terrier to take the trophy.
“I am so excited for Trumpet,” said handler Heather Helmer, who co-owns and bred the 4-year-old.
Trumpet became the first bloodhound to win Westminster.

Good lookin' dog. I thought he was going to sound off. I like to hear their bark. Years ago we used to raise Basset Hounds. we had one big male that actually barked a packrat to death. We have an English mastiff now and have for the last 40 years, this is out third one.

I used to have a Basset Hound. I still think they are cool dogs. Right now I have a couple of Pits and a Heinz 57.
The female Pit was a rescue. I meant to adopt the other two. They are all three alert and aggressive, and at least one of them sleeps inside every night.
