Snuff was the tobacco form of choice before cigarettes. A pinch between the gums and the lower front teeth.
Worked in hard labor with guys who used snuff and smoked cigarettes too.
They made me try snuff. After 11 seconds I threw up all over the factory floor. I suppose everyone throws up the first time they try snuff. But I never tried snuff again to find out if the second time makes you sick too.
I stuck to my cigarettes. Ain't had a cigarette since 6:30am May 1st, 2000AD. Toughest thing I ever did was quitting smoking.
Snuff was the tobacco form of choice before cigare... (show quote)

I tried smoking as early as 4th grade with another dummy.. a number of times as a teen, never liked it so never got the habit.. but snuff,, never had the nerve to try it.. for a few years it seemed to be the next great thing in east side of Mpls.. Yuk, what a thing to do.. You must have been a brave young man to do that..

Gee, from the old days, Maybe granny picked it up as a teenager.. LOL

I was a seventeen year old kid in a factory filled with burly ww2 veterans. They forced me to try snuff. I was already smoking Camels and Kools too because of the heat inside the factory. The floor was dirt, so the vomit didn't matter. Pre OSHA.
Dangerous and dirty place to work, but I survived and got promoted each summer I worked between college semesters. I think I learned more in the factory than I did in college.

I can agree that some of the things learned in the real world are more worthwhile then textbooks..

Darn, never worked on a dirt floor but did end up in some shabby places.. worked for a time in the old Armory north of the twin cities.. divided up with blow out wall, thin exterior and thick dividers so in case of an explosion the force would go out and not into the people in the next room..
