Recently I posted a topic "Evolution hangs itself in 20 years"

After a few days of debate while revisiting threads of discussion, I discovered one of my replies was nothing I had written. I have heard others complain, but thought only a crafted hacker could accomplish, hacking a reply.
After giving some thought it occurred to me, that when using quote reply, one can delete the original comments, then insert what they want, and then after the word quote, write their own reply as one normally would do and hit send.

BEWARE OF B****SHEEP, HE IS UNABLE TO DEBATE, BUT RATHER SWEARS, DEMEANS, AND ATTACKS.

HE WILL HACK YOUR COMMENTS, AS OTHERS WITH A LOW SELF ESTEEM, OR UNABLE TO HOLD AN ADULT DISCUSSION WILL DO.

What he does not understand is for many of us in a discussion, it does not phase us, but could cause embarrassment, trying to explain to others comments he had written, which is how he gets his jollies.

B****sheep, and others that hack, you only reveal your low intellect, low self esteem, and embarrass yourself.

Some of us are discussing turning him in.

Interesting that since we kicked that idea around, he has been silent.

Probably looking up more "witty" remarks.

Someone had said they reported a hacker, and admin would do nothing. Whew I'm glad you responded first before he could hack my post. Lol

Turn them in. There is no place on a discussion board for that type of behavior!

Can I ask a question? Is this an actual hack? Or is the poster hitting quote and then changing the original quote?

Anyone can do that. Although it is a pretty despicable thing to do to change a mans words like that.

I am not backing or defacing only testing to see if it as easy at it appears.

Is there an echo in here?

Yeah, I changed my own quote (added an echo). There IS an echo in here!

The second, hitting quote and then changing the original quote.

This is not what would occur to most, or even know how, which is why I used the term hack.

The reason I knew about that is that I've done it before. Not here. For example someone posts a really long, long post and you have a point to make about 1 paragraph. So I've taken that particular paragraph and edited everything out except for that paragraph.

That's not changing words or anything, it's just drawing attention to the section you want to address. Is that allowed here?

I still think it's pretty low to change someones words into something different (actually change the actual words) to mean something else after they posted them.

ginnyt, to whom I complained about the same thing on a few occasions, assured me she corresponded with admin and was seemingly assured this is totally impossible, despite numerous complaints over the years and many recently.

THAT MAKES TOTAL SENSE TO ME, AND NOW THAT I UNDERSTAND HOW, I WILL BE FOLLOWING YOUR LEAD ON LONG POST.

Thanks

I have to ask the same question: Is this an actual hack? Or is the poster hitting quote and then changing the original quote?

If that is the case, that is not hacking, it is part of his response. I do this to shorten a long post.
