Nostalgia: For the most part and not always, I think it is a dangerous thing and should be added as 8 to the 7 Deadly sins

Why? It is always deceitful and a lure to seductively distract us from the present...yet luxurious and comforting. But worldly, and the one that is friends with the world is at enmity with God. (James 4:4) And then there is this:
Romans 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

1 John 2:15 - Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world [such as the past]. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

1 John 5:19 - And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

1Cor3:1 Your minds are on worldly things [such as the past]. But our citizenship is in heaven; our one allegiance is to God.Phil3:19

Christianity is not kind to earthly affections, or affectations, such as patriotism and the like. Bankers are considered as evil as adulterers, but you won't hear that in any church. People who are "the pillars of society," like the Pharisees, are not to be emulated. We are to be as Christ period. And we can. Maybe not me, though it is possible. Fond memories of a bygone era is usually results on a regret or a prejudice about the present. And then there is Revisionist History about distorted beliefs.

On the other hand, Friend, there are the remembrances of the past by very old people who have little or no future and a very long past to savior now and again. Such a good and virtuous interlude that gives much pleasure for a few moments is most certainly not condemned by God.

There is also the gathering of fellow soldiers and friends, the comradery, the palpable patriotic feelings, the purposefulness, and also objects of veneration like the flag or a monument that holds things together, especially in trying times, that God would support. At least my God would!

Yes, you are right. As I said 'For the most part and not always,' because I really enjoy old pictures of my family both before and after I was born, and the stories of the "good old days."

Indeed, it is great fun to go back in time and remember the huge laughs and crazy situations we can get into, seemingly without effort! Well, maybe a little bit of beer might help!
