You are right. The fact that this is news indicates how unusual this is.
But the next e******ns may be decided after the v**e, not by the v**e.
The only way to decide after the v**e is if even more massive fraud is found than was found in the 2020 e******n, seeing that though there were tens of thousands more invalid v**es discovered in one county my state alone than the amount the "winning" candidate won by.
Here is a breakdown of those 49,718 questionable v**es:
23,344 mail-in b****ts were counted from individuals who no longer lived at the address to which the mail-in b****t was sent. The audit called these “mail-in b****ts v**ed from prior address” in the v**er history phase. (critical impact)
*9,041 more b****ts returned by v**ers than received in the v**er history phase.
*5,295 v**ers that potentially v**ed in multiple counties in the certified results phase.
*3,432 more b****ts cast than the list of people who show as having cast a v**e. The audit called this group of b****ts “official results does not match who v**ed,” in the certified results phase.
*2,592 more duplicates than original b****ts in the b****t phase.
*2,382 in person v**ers who had moved out of Maricopa County in the certified results phase.
*2,081 v**ers moved out of state during 29 day preceding e******n in the v**er history phase.
*1,551 v**es counted in excess of v**ers who v**ed in the certified results phase.
The claim often made that the audit was partisan because one specific Democrat observer was forbidden reentrance after he tried to disrupt the process is ridiculous. Many people were allowed in to observe. The process included:
1. All b****t boxes sent by the e******n officials were put in a locked cage in an open area of the convention center floor which had multiple cameras on it at all times.
2. Each table had equal numbers of Republicans and Democrats examining the b****ts.
3. For each b****t box two people assigned to move b****t boxes, one a Republican and one a Democrat, were sent to the cage to sign out a box. Each had to sign. They both accompanied the box to the table. At the table one Republican and one Democrat must sign they received the box. When done with the box, the reverse was done.
4. Each table had two cameras recording all the time.
5. The entire floor of the convention center was under several cameras all the time.
6. Observers, including press and officials and legislators from other states, could watch from the stands.
