Barack Obama rode a wave of enthusiasm into the White House in 2009 when the nation was at the height of Obama-induced hysteria. America had elected its first black president- an apparent affirmation of the success of the Civil Rights Movement and a validation of the hard work and sacrifices made by so many.

It was, to many, a fulfillment of “the dream” discussed by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. However, this dream soon revealed itself to be a nightmare.

That is why it is imperative to restore the dream. TheTeaParty.net, The Congress of Racial E******y (CORE), one of the oldest civil rights organizations in the country and Aleda King, author of her new “King Rules”, Founder and Director of Alveda King Ministries and Director of African American Outreach for Priests for Life are working with Restore the Dream- a campaign to engage black and minority communities nationwide in an effort to highlight one simple question: “Are you better off now than you were before ‘Hope and ‘Change?’”

While the nation as a whole has suffered greatly under the reign of Barack Obama, the black community has fared even worse. The promises of “hope” and “change” were dashed as unemployment within the black community continues to be a significant hurdle for millions.

According to the Schott Foundation’s 2012 report, only 52% of black males graduate from high school.

According to the 2013 National Report Card, the gap in fourth-grade math test scores between black and white students widened to 40 points- the largest gap since the national study began in 2003.

While President Obama and his team find more and more creative ways to rig the unemployment numbers, the black community, even by these manipulated measures, still suffers from 11.5% unemployment.

Dr. King spoke of a dream of e******y as an extension of the American dream. Sadly, while Obama and the rest of the Democrats are already moving on to set the stage for a Hillary presidency by bolstering the “war on women” narrative, the black community is left in worse shape as a result of the Obama years. Black families make $20,000 less per year than the national average and home ownership for b****s is 21% less than the rest of the country.

How has Barack Obama served the black community? Since he took office, the poverty rate for the black community jumped sharply from 12% to 16.1% as of early 2014.

Let’s be clear: the poor state of the black community cannot solely be attributed to the failings of one president. However, Obama rose to prominence based on a promise- a promise of “hope,” a promise of “change.”

These changes have robbed the black community of hope and those in the black community that supported Obama’s rise should feel betrayed.

It is for these reasons that we must strengthen the black community and engage with minority communities nationwide to spark a dialogue and work together to help restore the dream of e******y, restore the dream of open opportunities for all and restore the American dream of leaving our children a better life than the generation before them.

We must not simply cite grievances, but discuss solutions that stem from energizing and urging the urban communities to embrace liberty; individual freedom, free markets and school-choice education.

The first phase of this nationwide campaign started October 1st and will continue through 2015 and will focus on community outreach via media, social media and in-state activities nationwide; starting with North Carolina and the city of Ferguson, Missouri.

How you can get involved:

We welcome participation and citizens lending their voice to this important issue. We will be hosting a tele-townhall where anybody can join in, ask questions and have their voices heard. The tele-townhall will take place on October 3rd, 2014, at 3pm PDT/6pm EDT.
