When I stated that Kyle Rittenhouse was a vigilante PR and those that follow her came a bit unglued at the suggestion even though he fit the definition to a tee. Well, it was written 80 years ago but George Steinback knew exactly what a vigilante was and I h**e to say, but Kyle "I support B*M, wink wink" Rittenhouse most certainly was...

So, what’s your point? Being a vigilante is not illegal.

When ya got a mob of angry animalistic r****ts swarming through the streets of your city, burning cars and buildings, l**ting stores and attacking police, and the mayor of your city and the governor of your state are ordering the police to back off, then the mob is emboldened and the threat to human life is increased.

So, when law and order has broken down all around you and the enforcers have abandoned you, it is time to go full vigilante as is necessary to save your life.

And/or you see danger developing in the city where your father lives, you might be compelled to participate in the defense of his community too. What’s truly amazing, is that the youth of our nation are still willing to defend it.

Thank you, Blade Runner, for your insight.

I disagree that Steinbeck got it right. This definition sounds more like the people Kyle was protecting property from. Webster's says
A watchman ,Guard. A volunteer organized to suppress and punish crime.especially when the processes of law are viewed as inadequate. A self appointed doer of justice.
Kyle fit that discription better then the Steinbeck one. By the way was George Steinbeck John's brother?

I have no idea what George Steinbeck knew or who George Steinbeck is/was for that matter. The book you referenced was written by John Steinbeck, a rather famous American.

That is how you constantly lose credibility. You keep demonstrating just how little you know.
