"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
(John 16:33, NIV)

I will tell you my hymn choice was not the most frequently listed for this Bible verse; however, the minute I saw the hymn title I started humming.

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bEE5MvoT3oI

This Is My Father's World

1. This is my Father's world,
And to my listening ears
All nature sings, and round me rings
The music of the spheres.
This is my Father's world:
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas--
His hand the wonders wrought.

2. This is my Father's world:
The birds their carols raise,
The morning light, the lily white,
Declare their Maker's praise.
This is my Father's world:
He shines in all that's fair;
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass,
He speaks to me everywhere.

3. This is my Father's world:
O let me ne'er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the Ruler yet.
This is my Father's world:
Why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King: let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let earth be glad!

Thank you for this. It has been a rough week.

When my next door neighbors and my grandson are gone, I go out on the deck, late at night, and sing this song. My voice would empty a room quicker than a fire alarm. My husband once asked me why I sang in church, but no where else. My answer. God gave me this voice, he deserves to listen to it. No one else should be punished.

A perfect hymn for early in the morning as we sit on the front porch looking at the changing leaves and listening to the owls. Fall is here in God's world, let us all give thanks. Amen

Sounds lovely, I stayed home because of torrential rain from Australian Pink Floyd concert. We had so wanted to attend. John, had tried so hard to be able to attend.... I feel bad.But his health was more important than a concert I figured. I watched the storm giving God the glory that he's in control. It's sometimes not easy. Lol. 😇😅

Wondrous! I just need to open my eyes to see his majesty: no fireworks, magic shows, super feats of strength, or dancing girls to have the greatest show on earth. Thank you, I needed that.

That is an advantage we country people have over city people. All we have to do is sit on the porch and watch the birds, listen to the wind in the trees, enjoy the deer as they eat the parts of our vegetable garden we haven't yet harvested, admire a beautiful spider web remade daily by a lowly spider, but more beautiful and intricate than most of man's creations. And no, I can't get mad at the deer for getting in the garden, I forgot to turn on the electric fence yesterday after doing some repairs on it, and deer are deer, just doing what comes naturally. As the sun comes over the mountains and lights up the tops of the trees in their new fall colors, I can glory in the majesty of God, and thank Him for all his gifts.

Curious you say "...as the sun comes over the mountain": that is exactly what was happening as I read AuntiE's devotional; it made it seem a glorious and loving gift, a time to rejoice and be glad.
