That's like the term "Southerner". L*****ts don't understand it is not a place - it's a state of mind. I used to know a couple of boys raised in NYC who became "Southerners".

There are thousands of folks that moved to Texas in the late seventies and early eighties.

They were looking for construction work, oil business jobs and a more tolerable climate.

Many had been layed off auto workers.
At one point in I think 1982/83, 100 families per day were moving into Houston.

A few left in the 87 oil downturn but most hung on, survived, and thrived as southern rednecks, disavowing their former northern redneck persuasions. Now they are all retiring to Hill Country and it’s cheap real estate!
