Better yet why not have a maximum wage!

If you believe in a minimum wage, logically you must believe in a maximum wage!

American, If business owners can't pay a living wage, they shouldn't be in business!

Minimum wage is not intended as a minimum subsistence wage.

Are you in South Carolina or Queens, New York? Your personal info location doesn’t match your comments.

JR, I was born and raised in Queens, NY, moved to Maryland to raise my family when I was around thirty, and retired to South Carolina about fifteen years ago. I like to think of myself as a New York yankee that has been working my way south ever since.

But at 30 I went back to school got my RN and only had one job since. If you work a high school type of after school job to begin in the workforce you don't get played like those who choose a profession.Burger King and Taco time is not meant to support a family.

Congrats for going back to get your RN degree at thirty! That’s very admirable.

Obviously you are not competent enough to understand the analogy.

Let me help you….. if you believe in government control on the low end, you must also favor the government in control on the high end because you cream over government making your life good or better.

A maximum wage already exists. It’s what the market is willing to pay you for the sk**ls you have to offer.

As does a minimum wage ……….. many wetbacks and other refugees work for less than govt minimum…… especially before they have paid their coyote fees.

Your ELWNJ opinion.

It is not anyone's business what a person/business pays. Let the market dictate that.

As for Denmark , people pay an average of 45% tax rate combined.

As for McDonald’s paying 20 bucks an hour….Cost of a McMeal:
Switzerland….$16.37
Norway….$14.36
Denmark…$11.74
U S…………..$8.00

Strongly suggest you get the facts before you set off down that Yellow Brick Road of all would be well if only the U S would increase the minimum wage! Better yet, why don’t you move to Denmark and let us know how it works out!!!! I am sure they would welcome you with open arms! Just some facts and commentary.

Facts? From a Dem?? Surely you jest!!!

Do they realize that THEY are the ones paying for higher and higher minimum wages?

Yes, you have to know when to say "when ".

But when a company sells its products in high volumes it's not difficult to raise the price a few pennies, maintain your sales volume and pass the increased revenue on to the employees in the form of pay raises.

In my neck of the woods the cost of living is low. Minimum wage should be around $18/hour. A couple with a child can survive on that, at least initially, with mom or dad staying home to raise the child.

I moved to SC 4+ years ago. A fantastic place to live by any standard. The mountains and the beach all within a relatively short drive.

But.......a company is a free enterprise. If YOU want to start a company and raise prices "a few pennies", then do so. Otherwise, as the old saying goes, MYOB.

Question: why do so many think the answer to money problems is to raise wages???? What about getting a better job, more education? Is it really consumers responsibility to pay for goods and services based on people’s desired standard of living?
Thank Think about it! If it makes no sense in Theory, it is wrong to go there….. Slippy slope…. Just a thought.

I don't know. But, it certainly makes one question whether they prefer freedom or increased governmental control over their lives......
