Please bundle up folks. This was the trend as I remember 70's and early 80's when summer was long, winter gets below zero. We will see this year, hope I am wrong.

Note: That forecasted increase is very low. I think it will be more than that.

That is due to the dumb policies of Joe Biden, closing all the natural gas and oil pipeline exploration due to c*****e c****e he said. Biden, Bernie and AOC are warm spending the money of the taxpayers to warm them up. Prepare your fireplace. Sometimes, the heating system breaks due to increase in usage. Or having extra generator to help.

Heating Bills Are Expected to Spike in US This Winter: Federal Agency

BY TAMMY HUNG October 14, 2021 Updated: October 14, 2021

The average heating cost for a U.S. household is forecasted to see a double-digit increase this winter, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) in its October winter fuels outlook.

Retail energy prices are expected to approach “multiyear highs” due to supply and demand changes following the p******c, as well as a colder winter ahead.

Forecasted cost hikes include propane by 54 percent, heating oil costs by 43 percent, natural gas costs by 30 percent, and electricity costs by 6 percent.

With natural gas consumption projected to rise by 3 percent this winter, households are expected to spend $746 this winter, up from $573 the previous winter.

The increase in natural gas heating costs varies by region with the Midwestern United States leading the price hike at a 45 percent increase from the previous winter, while the Northeast is expecting a hike of 14 percent.

Nearly half of all U.S. households use natural gas as the primary source of heating. Households relying on heating oil over winter will spend $1,734 over the winter, relative to $1,212 the previous year.

Houses in Northeastern regions will be more affected by the price hike, as nearly one in five homes in the region relies on heating oil as their primary source of space heating.

The projection is based on the Brent crude oil price, which helps determine the prices of U.S. petroleum products.

“The higher forecast Brent crude oil price this winter primarily reflects a decline in global oil inventories compared with last winter as a result of global oil demand that has risen amid restrained production levels from OPEC+ [Organization of the Petroleum Exporting] countries,” the EIA outlook reads.

While most households commonly use electricity for heating, 41 percent rely on electric heat pumps or heaters as their primary source for space heating.

These homes should expect to spend $1,268 this winter season, relative to $1196 the previous year. This projection accounts for 3 percent more residential electricity demand with more Americans working from home, a colder winter, and a rise in fuel costs for power generation.

“During the first seven months of this year, the cost of natural gas delivered to U.S. electric generators averaged $4.97/MMBtu, which is more than double the average cost in 2020,” the EIA outlook reads.

The 5 percent of U.S. homes using propane as the primary means for heating can expect to spend $631 more on average compared to the previous winter, depending on the location.

Residents of the Midwest can spend an average of $1,805 this winter, reflecting higher propane prices and a 2 percent increased consumption.

Propane prices have been at their highest since February 2014 due to increased global demand, relatively flat U.S. propane production, and limited oil supplies from OPEC-plus countries.

The estimated rise in energy consumption projected by the EIA may vary with weather conditions during the 2021–22 winter season.

This is one of the most adverse effects of Joe's dumb policies. Closed all our energy and heating sources for c*****e c****e .

Oh for cripes sake....

But the Energy Information Administration said the main reason for the spike in energy prices is that fuel demand has shot up from recent lows faster than producers have increased supply.

You forgot the part about WHY production has declined; the fact that your boy the Senile Sock Puppet cancelled all drilling and exploration for oil on Federal lands and almost overnight turned us from an oil exporter to a country where our dementia-beset leader has to go hat in hand to OPEC and beg them to increase production and sell it to us at ruinous prices. A demand they denied. Your boy accomplished this in less than a year, now he wants the same oil companies he screwed to bail his worthless ass out of the mess he created. I hope you and all the other Biden v**ers are really, really REALLY proud of yourselves. Make sure you leave those Biden/Harris bumper stickers on your cars so the rest of us will know whose gas tank to siphon.

It's Trump's fault? Did FJB's magic pen run out of ink, cause I wasn't freezing last year, we were energy independent and the Chinese had no power over America, border was closed and I was keeping almost 4000 dollars more of my income.

Did you understand what that statement said about the reasons for the spike?
Because of Biden's policies that had closed our oil and gas drillings. That importations of energy could not c**pe at the demands of users. We import energy from the Arab countries. Our needs are dependent upon the production of their energy supplies. When problems come up with low supplies. These countries we depend on must provide for them first. And nothing left for us. Our desperation for needs they raise the price.

Biden makes the US dependent upon these enemy countries. Biden begs them to give us more. How stupid and dumb that is. Instead of us managing our massive oil reserves. When China and the Arab world pollute, the toxin don't stay around them. It flows all over the world, and similarly, we are affected.
Countries with highest CO2.
China 10.3m
US 5.3m
India 2.2m

US has only 50% of China's pollutant. But Biden imports everything from China, Muslims, and India. Dumb Biden don't understand that their pollutants travel all over the world including the US.

smedley, this is a good article, if you have not read it yet...

Fast Facts
With U.S. crude oil production nearly doubling from 2009 to 2015, Congress repealed the crude oil export ban in December 2015—allowing the free export of U.S. crude oil worldwide.

We found that repealing the ban was associated with:

Expanding the market for U.S. crude oil to overseas buyers

Allowing producers to charge higher prices relative to comparable foreign oil

Decreasing profit margins for petroleum refiners as they paid more for domestic crude oil relative to international prices

Decreasing demand for U.S. tankers to move domestic oil, leading to declines in the U.S. shipping industry

Biden Promised To End New Drilling On Federal Land, But Approvals Are Up

BILLINGS, Mont. — Approvals for companies to drill for oil and gas on U.S. public lands are on pace this year to reach their highest level since George W. Bush was president, underscoring President Joe Biden's reluctance to more forcefully curb petroleum production in the face of industry and Republican resistance.

The Interior Department approved about 2,500 permits to drill on public and tribal lands in the first six months of the year, according to an Associated Press analysis of government data. That includes more than 2,100 drilling approvals since Biden took office January 20.

New Mexico and Wyoming had the largest number of approvals. Montana, Colorado and Utah had hundreds each.

Nothing has changed in terms of production, only the rhetoric, halting a pipeline that's being built doesn't change existing production, not allowing more drilling or exploration doesn't change anything.

Prices are set on a world market by global supply and demand. When prices go up oil companies make more money. If there is a shortage here stop exporting, DUH.

Oil industry quarterly profits will tell the tale, and if the oil and gas industries want to rape americans and businesses Biden can declare a national emergency and roll back prices, there is a precedent for rolling back as low as $2.25 a gallon...but even $3.00 a gallon would make a difference.

Heating Bills Are Expected to Spike in US This Winter: Federal Agency

The average heating cost for a U.S. household is forecasted to see a double-digit increase this winter, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) in its October winter fuels outlook.

Retail energy prices are expected to approach “multiyear highs” due to supply and demand changes following the p******c, as well as a colder winter ahead.
