1. The Cabala and banking are about as far apart as two ideas can be. I am no expert in Cabala, but I recognize it as a spiritual exercise in Jewish mysticism.
2. Jews were forced to go into " lending " during the Middle Ages. They were excluded from the feudal system, and couldn't own land in Europe. At that time, there were Jewish laws that said that Jews could not lend money to other Jews, but they could lend money to gentiles, as long as the interest rate was approved by a Rabbi.
3. Because of these laws, Jews were invited into many European lands to increase economic activity, and helped finance some of the most beautiful churches, and cathedrals in Europe. When the king found himself in debt, they just expelled the Jews.
4, By usury, I gather you mean money lending. If you can think of another way of spreading capital around for business creation, and expansion, fill me in, I would love to know how.

I suggest that you read " Constantine's Sword", The Church and the Jews. It is written by James Carroll, a Christian scholar, and the book details the Church's war on the Jews in the early years of the Christian Church. It won the National Book Award, the year it was published.

I have heard this idea that charging interest for a loan is evil. Modern capitalism must have access to capital. It is the lifeblood of business. If we do away with what you call usury, how will business be able to expand? How will ordinary people be able to buy a house, or send their children to college? If you have a better way, what is it?
