BENTONVILLE, Ark., July 27, 2021 — Today, Walmart announced it will pay 100% of college tuition and books for associates through its Live Better U (LBU) education program. Starting Aug. 16, the $1 a day fee will be removed for associates, making all education programs paid for by Walmart. This means approximately 1.5 million part-time and full-time Walmart and Sam’s Club associates in the U.S. can earn college degrees or learn trade sk**ls without the burden of education debt. As the largest U.S. private employer, Walmart is committing to invest nearly $1 billion over the next five years in career-driven training and development.

What’s in it for the them ?
Sometimes employee schedules are designed to make it difficult if not impossible to make it to class, complete assignments and study for tests.

This is an example of corporate greed?
I guess you think welfare is a symptom of a greedy government. How dare a mega Corp treat it's employees like valuable assets.

1.5 million employees x 365 days per year is 547,500,000 dollars per year. I'm wondering how many Walmart employees have kids of college age right now.
Over ten years that is about 5.5 billion.
I think as long as they can't tap into the funds outside of providing for colloge for an employee or their kids, it seems ok.
