This is a very good article about why personal gun ownership is important. It was written in 1991 and published by the Foundation for Economic Education. If you lean right, this will affirm your beliefs. If you lean left, I assure you this is a clear and easy to understand explanation of WHY the 2ndA is so important....to you as well to gun owners. Please try to read it with an attitude of objectivity.

It is better to have a gun and not need it than to not have a gun when you need one.

True, but that is uncommon sense - a rare quality these days.
It’s very rare in the specie ‘homo quasi-sentient couchus potatous port-sideus.’

Gun control is being able to hit what you're aiming at. My Glock 23 does just that.

Estimates of defensive gun use vary depending on the questions asked, populations studied, timeframe, and other factors related to the design of studies. The report Priorities for Research to Reduce the Threat of Firearm-Related Violence indicates a range of 60,000 to 2.5 million defensive gun uses each year

Wasn't that before we actually had a military. I believe the right to bear arms is about liberty and tyranny. Tyranny is two wolves and a sheep v****g on what's for dinner and liberty is a well armed sheep contesting the v**e. I must say Hats off to your knowledge of history

It's over 100 years too late for gun control.
