Did you just say "obligations to the community?" What the HELL do you think the City Council got elected for? Never mind, it's Baltimore. They got elected by a bunch of welfare l***hes who want their free ride to continue forever. Why don't you go open a business there, Keb? You'd fit right in. Just not with the business owners.

Is this a bit of “you get what you v**ed in??? “ Of course it is~~They need to be” woke”, eh???

Business owners in one Baltimore district are staging a "tea party" with their taxes because of the city's recent moves to defund police and refuse to provide basic services such as trash collection.

Dozens of business operators in the city's Fell's Point district have written to Mayor Brandon Scott, council members and others warning that "the chaos and lawlessness that escalated this weekend into another night of tragic, unspeakable gun violence" is unacceptable.

"Our elected leaders have closed their eyes and ears and turned their backs on our community for long enough," they said in their letter. "We are fed up and frustrated, and we now realize that nothing will change unless we demand action.

"To compel our leaders to do their job and to stand up for neighborhoods all across Baltimore, the undersigned parties are prepared to withhold our city taxes and minor privilege and permit fees and place those funds into an escrow account, which we will not release until and unless basic and essential municipal services are restored."

They list a failure to "pick up the trash."

It piles up and "attracts rodents and fosters disease," among other things, they say. "We're s**k of it."

And they want traffic and parking laws enforced, and "open-air alcohol and drug sales" shut down.
Is mass refusal to pay taxes a good way to prompt government to do its job?

"There are individual vendors in Fell's Point illegally selling large volumes of alcohol, marijuana, and a range of other illicit substances directly in front of our establishments with no consequences," they explain.

"There are individual vendors in Fell's Point illegally selling large volumes of alcohol, marijuana, and a range of other illicit substances directly in front of our establishments with no consequences," they explain.

And finally, "empower police to responsibly do their job."

"On top of everything else, some of our employees are now scared, and we are scared for our employees. In a city with organized crime and soaring gun violence, we appreciate the extraordinary demands on our police. Our officers cannot and should not use the power of arrest to address every situation. At the same time, police cannot be directed to ignore manifest lawlessness that happens right before their eyes. When it comes to prostitution, public urination and defecation, and the illegal sale and consumption of alcohol and illicit drugs on the streets, we know these crimes are not as serious as the carjackings, shootings, and homicides that have become routine. But, as this past weekend proved, a culture of lawlessness rarely remains confined to petty offenses and invariably leads to the kinds of violence and tragedy we witnessed late Saturday night," they wrote.

Among other issues, three men were shot in the Fell's Point district on just that one night.

The business owners explained, "Frankly, it is pathetic that we have to beg for these basics. But this is where we are."

"Please do your job so we can get back to doing ours," they wrote.

WBAL reported the mayor responded with a statement from his office, expressing that he shares the business owners' "frustrations over the violence across the city."

He said he'd ordered city workers to "address it."

"Call it the Baltimore Tea Party," explained PJ Media.

"The last thing Baltimore needed was to have its police defunded. But the mayor and city council followed the far-left activist agitators off that cliff in 2020, and homicide in Harm City shot up," the report said.

"City officials are hired by v**ers to do their jobs. Businesses pay taxes to fund the city’s provision of services. But if the city is failing in its most fundamental duties, it doesn’t deserve the taxes. The business leaders can better spend that money on security and other services they can depend on, or something else. The city’s failure can’t and won’t go without some reaction," PJ Media reported.

I think we should do that with the Democratic party, Seize their assess, after all they didn't do anything to improve the lives of their constituents. Take for example San Francisco and Palosi=in 4 years she allowed illegal criminals to find refuge and continue their work as rapist, murders and thieves, in that once great city, s**t piled up in the streets along with needles, drug addicts and the mentally ill. She obviously isn't doing the job she was paid to do along with the Governor and other dem reps in that now unsafe city.

BRAVO!!! Exactly what should be done by every business owner across the Nation!!!
Putting funds in escrow means business and could take a lawsuit to disperse!!! Brilliant strategy!!! Dereliction of duty, subjecting citizens to undo fearful conditions and safety should be significantly plead too!! Failure to secure businesses and failure to remove garbage is also a general hazard and safety hazard to the public at hand...

Glad to see this and hope many other businesses join ranks and move these i***ts out of office soon!!! E******n year coming prime time to flex their muscle!!! They only beed us for our and don’t care after that!! Bankrupt these Municipalities withholding taxes speaks volumes and watch them take interest then...

Love it!

Last week, Baltimore’s Board of Estimates (BOE) held its annual Taxpayer Night to discuss their preliminary Fiscal Year 2022 city budget, released April 7.
I testified before the BOE with Communities United and other residents to demand a moral realignment of our city’s budget priorities. This budget still calls for spending more on policing than on our schools and other things our communities really need. The proposed FY 2022 budget increases police department funding by $28 million — more than was cut last June by the City Council as thousands of us rallied and painted “DEFUND POLICE” outside City Hall.

Did this have anything to do with trash pickup, etc? No, everything is bloated with kickbacks to politicians.

And Peeloosli even welcomed W***n v***s infected Chinese into Chinatown while Trump was trying to stop the spread of the v***s. How sick is that?? If one of my loved ones died in San Frans**tco from the W***n v***s, I would own Peeloosli's billions, her home and her ice cream freezer after I got done suing her sorrowful a$$

Not if they do not want this to escalate. Since apparently violence is escalating to an alarming degree, they may very well resort to violence to keep their property. The money is held in an escrow account for disbursal when the city holds up its end of the city ordinances and laws. Defunding police does not change the law against theft, murder, and burglary-it only makes it impossible for the law to be enforced. The city has a responsibility to protect its citizens in a reasonable manner, just as the Federal Government has that responsibility and are not discharging it -I wonder what will happen if businesses and individuals begin to withhold tax owed in an escrow account to be disbursed when the Constitution is upheld. Interesting thought. The businesses can certainly up and leave the city, putting more people out of work, and further hurting it economically. I suspect that will be the next thing they do-and if they do it en masse, I am not sure I would want to be one of the council members there. And who would want to buy such property with no police protection available?
