Ah, a romantic under that fiery red hair. I knew it. But I prefer Andy William's version.

Vera Lynn's rendition of this beautiful song still raises the hairs on the back of my neck. One of the very first LPs I remember was one of her singing at a concert for the British troops. Vera Lynn will always conjure up the war effort that the allies were losing. This is one of the greatest songs of all time. Only Edith Piaf and Mahalia Jackson can have a similar effect on me but in different ways.

Vera Lynn left all others behind.

I agree but I love the whisper of the wind through the leaves and grass while alone watching the critters even more. Just me. Mike

I miss the films where all the performers were able to speak dialog, sing, and dance well. When the film was over you had a good feeling. Hollywood was the land of make-believe. Maybe corny but up lifting and all was well with the world.
Thanks for remembering the songs of that era. Have a wonderful Mother's Day coming up.

Yup, she could make the eyes of Godzilla tear up.
