When I grew up in Minnesota, any stealing from anyone was considered a crime. As a child, the punishment was handled by the parents, which was usually worse than the talking to by the police officer. As a young adult the punishment might have been a week in a juvinal vacility (I don't know because neither me nor my brother would have dared commit a crime. The punishment for having forgotten to feed the chickens, or even worse for forgotten to feed the calves, would have been bad enough, usually double amounts of farm chores for two to four weeks , let alone if we had stolen something from the grocery store. Even out here in the country these days most parents make a dozen different excuses for the bad things their children do. And we wonder why no one has respect for others?

Stealing is still a crime, the only change is the amount of theft that constitutes a felony vs a misdemeanor.

I think ANY value put on ANY STOLEN PROPERTY, should warrant PROSECUTION!!! Just because someone is TOO LAZY to GET A JOB, should NEVER give him the right to take ANYTHING that does not belong to him or her!! NO MATTER the VALUE!!

SAME HERE. In MICHIGAN it USED to be a crime. But I suppose with Witmer as Gov. it won't be for long!! Have you ever had a fresh cut willow switch wrapped around your "bare" legs a time or 5?? THAT was Mom's weapon of choice, when it came to punishment!! It was effective!!

Our punishment for not doing what we were told to do was to have our farm chores doubled, which usually meant an extra 5 hours a day and if that mean we got only 3 hours of sleep, so be it. The worst thing my brother ever did was lie to our father and claim he had fed the three calves. Because of his lie the calves almost died, and the rest of the family had extra work to do to save them. This happened a couple of days before my brothers 8th birthday, and , in addition to not getting any presents that year, he had to spend half the summer doing clean up for our dad, who was the only country vet in the area. So my brother had to clean up after the farm animals that my dad had treated and dig the holes for two goat kids and one calf that did not survive (a common occurence with livestock) where the first two weeks are always critical. Growing up on a small farm back then was a learning experience, and taught me how to respect all life, even the lives of the animals that ended up on our dinner table.

I think that the majority of properly registered guns belong to conservatives. However, the "liberals" or left wing Marxists have almost all of the black market guns and those stolen from other people by criminals , and this is the group that has no intention of following any laws if they can get away with ignoring the laws that do not suit their needs and wishes.
