The constitution gives congress the power to declare war. Only congress, not the president is empowered to declare war. The War Powers Act allows the president to use military power against a foreign nation only if that nation poses a clear and imminent danger against the U.S. That action is limited to 30 days unless congress approves further action.

When the Al Queda-Muslim Brotherhood coalition was o*******wing the legallly established governments of Egypt and Libya, Obama was unlawfully supplying money and arms to the rebels and even ordered U.S. military to intervene in Libya with air strikes and with a small number of ground forces. He was also covertly supplying arms and money to rebels trying to o*******w the legally established government of Syria. Those rebels were also part of the Al Queda--Muslim Brotherhood coalition.

Now that coalition is called ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria).
Now Obama again is planning to unlawfully interject our military into a foreign cuvil war in a foreign nation where the U.S. government has no jurisdiction and no business meddling. The irony is that he now intends to attack the forces that he supported in the past.

All this is blatantly unconstitutional and is a blatant abuse of the power of the U.S. presidency. Congress does nothing about it, although a few of them may speechify and orate a little and then sweep the whole mess under the rug and forget it.

The ironic part of this is that politicians on the right are pushing for more intervention.

And that's sad. Just proves George Wallace was right when he said there's not a dime's worth of difference in dems and repubs.

I believe Congress gave the President limited war power, not to declare but limited. We will see how nutless the GOP congress is if they ever come off vacation.

The only authority the president has to commit acts of war is that contained in rhe War Powers Act. That allows the president to commit those acts of war only when A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER TO THE U.S. EXISTS. No such danger exists and Obama is again committing a crime if he orders more acts of war against a foreign nation.

Congress has no constitutional authority ro "allow or approve"
acts of war other than their authority to declare war or the few powers to approve after the fact a p**********l order to attack a foreign nation ONLY IF THAT FOREIGN NATION PRESENTS A CLEAR AND IMMINENT DANGER TO THE U.S.

Syria, like Libya, Iraq, Egypt, and The Ukraine present no clear and present danger to the U.S.

Are you sure it doesn't read a clear and eminent danger to the US or it's citizens.

I'm sure it does not mean that a U.S. citizen can voluntarily go to a foreign country and enexpect the U.S. military to come to his rescue when he breaks the laws or customs of that foreign country. U.S. citizens who go to foreign countries are subject to the laws of that country.

Congress does nothing to the President because they have no evidence, nothing. They will spend millions trying to prove he broke some law, in the end they just diverted attention away from the fact that they aren't governing.

Half of our enemy is congress. Corruption is k*****g us. Study Calvin Coolidge and how he dealt with it. Also how he dealt with immigration and unions.
The economy was booming & they called it the "roaring twenties".
