In an interesting development a secret vote on the verdict in Trumps upcoming trial is being seriously considered. This would allow senators to vote their conscience rather than worry about retaliation from members of Trumps death cult. If this is the case and the trial is based on evidence Trumps goose is cooked.

Trump is in deeper water this time than the first time with the senate. Whether he's convicted remains to be seen but the memory is fresh for most in the senate and unlike you, they don't think it was pimply-faced college students of Antifa who were storming their chambers but MAGA unleashed upon them by none other than Donald J himself.

Impeachment is the Constitutional process of charging a high government official with an offense for the purpose of removing him or her from office. The House files the articles, the Senate conducts the trial.

This does not apply to private citizens.

Since Donald Trump is no longer POTUS and is, in fact, a private citizen, congress is out of the picture. Neither the House or the Senate are courts of law, they are solely legislative, not law enforcement.

If that sleazebag McConnell goes ahead with a "trial" in the Senate, it will be just another political sham, a serious violation of the supreme law of the land.

Governor Walker once said Washington D C is 68 square miles surrounded by reality. I reckon that territory has expanded considerably over the past four years.

Impeachment is the Constitutional process of charg... (show quote)

Even so, Trump better get his lawyers together and he needs to hit his supporters up to pay for it because there is going to be a trial where I am sure they will argue that the proceeding is unconstitutional. Judge Roberts will be right there so I am sure it won't take any time whatsoever to figure out the constitutionality of the proceedings...

Well stated, bladerunner
As a private citizen, Trump is entitled to a trial with a jury of his peers, not congressmen.
SCOTUS should block this charade

So what? What "goose" is cooked?

Impeachment is:

To remove from office: Trump is already out of office.

To remove Trump's pension: He forfeited his Presidential salary - why would he care about a pension?

To remove Secret Service protection: Trump has his own bodyguard service that is way more effective than the Secret Service.

To disbar: Trump is not a lawyer.

To prevent him from running in further political office: Trump has already held the highest office in the country. Why would he want any other position?

Bottom line: Impeachment (the charge) and conviction (found guilty) would mean absolutely nothing for Trump. Impeachment is merely a political process, not a legal one. Trump is not a politician. What the Dems do in their "secret" rooms is of no consequence to him.

Is this how the Biden administration goes about "healing" the country? Is this how he intends to obtain the support of the 80 million Americans who voted for President Trump and not Joe Biden? You judge a person by their actions, not by their words.

Healing the nation? GIVE ME A BREAK! Dems have no intention of healing anything. They're the ones that need healing. In all my 52 years of following politics, I've never seen such hatred & hypocrisy from a party. They are truly obsessed with destroying Trump. They need God but they threw Him out of their convention years ago

74 million for Trump; 81 million for Biden. Get your scores straight.

We'll find out if it's "unconstitutional" when the trial starts on Feb. 9th, won't we.

IF the Dems try to have an impeachment of a private citizen, then we will see what they think of the Constitution. It's common knowledge that they want to get rid of the Constitution and make up their own laws anyway.
