Most Memorable Christmas: What/When was yours?

My most memorable Christmas:
Early 1950’s
I was 8 or 9 years old and lived 2 ½ miles outside a small country town.
One day in December I saw the neighbor lady, I think her name was Helen or Irene, walking down the hill to our house. She was carrying a shoe box. In the box were gifts for me and two of my brothers one 2 yrs older and one 2 yrs younger than me.
For each of us, a small foam rubber ball and a “Hopalong Cassidy” pocket knife.
I lost the ball in the brush one day, can’t remember where/when I lost track of the knife.
Isn't it amazing how such a “small” thing can bring a tear to your eye after so many years?

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL

Two great memories come to mind.
First one was with the love of my live, visiting from California. She never saw snowing before. She saw snow, already on the ground. Mountains, etc. But in Chicago, we stepped out into our very large vegetated back yard in the dark with a fairly heavy snow coming down as large fluffy flaks and she was treated to her first snow and as beautiful as it can get.

Second was with the next love of my life on our coldest Christmas Eve in Chicago's history (about 20 below with strong winds and wind chill) and driving home bundled up in her tiny compact car that was barely warm enough. Just the two of us together.

Now for another love of my life. Yeah sure, in a p******c. Trying to make nice behind masks in below zero temperatures this year. Waiting on a frigid corner for a bus that probably broke down.

Merry Christmas

For me it was 12 years ago. I was at my parent's house on Christmas morning helping my Mom set the dining room table for the big dinner later on. After it was all ready, she said it was time to go open a few presents...she had a special one for me. I walked into the living room and there was my son standing there with his arms open. He wasn't supposed to be back from Afghanistan for a month...but he had managed to change it to Christmas as a gift for me. He was finished with his six-month tour then, so he didn't have to go back. That Christmas day, and the day he was born have been the best two days of my life.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!

My most memorable Christmas was in 1968, the first one with our grandparents when they were awarded custody of us after the court declared our mother to be an unfit parent.

There's so many it is hard to say. The year I got my first gun, a bolt action single shot .410. The year I gave my new girlfriend (and future wife) a pair of earrings, and her family thought it was going to be an engagement ring. They could tell how much in love we were, even though it had been just over a month since we started dating. There have been many with my children and grandchildren. This year will be memorable because the children and grandchildren are far away and it is the first one without the love of my life.
